Not that I love my job any less than normal, but April is always a fraught month in my line of work.

Mainly due to tax year end, but when your organisation raises 700 peoples' salaries in the same month, the government requires you to uplift all their pension contributions, your HR Director is REALLY keen for you to get the draft Reward Strategy draft for the whole organisation ready for the board meeting in the first week of May and then Easter gives you two less working days to do it all in, Dean ably demonstrates my attitude towards some of my less understandding managers this week!

Oh bugger!

Well, when I went laptop shopping last spring, I expressed my regret and doubt that I would ever find anything as reliable as my clunky old Sony Vaio which served me faithfully for donkeys years and which never once let me down.

So, apparently, I was right to doubt because the stupid sodding piece of junk I replaced it with, crashed irreversibly at the weekend and now has to be wiped and fitted with a new hard drive to be repaired. Of course, I haven't done a back up for six months because that would be far too sensible!!

*Sigh*

I've only had this new laptop for 10 months so at least it's in warranty, so that's handy at least...

But anyway, it's not all bad. On the subject of 'junk', this little poseur is flashing his around (such as it is). He joined me yesterday, but I don't think Sam's impressed!

He'll make his debut at [livejournal.com profile] spn_on_parade shortly, just as soon as I've got my laptop back (that ego needs a big screen to do it justice!!)

Anyway, I hope you're all having a great week - much love from Dizzoland xx

I haven't been following this whole ridiculous drama that's going on about this stupid 'joke' from NOLA Con, but I've seen enough on social media to know the general gist of the situation:

The guys get baited into telling a - probably, in the current climate - vaguely inappropriate joke and now they, Jared in particular, are getting crucified on Twitter by the oh-so-fucking-righteous brigade.

There's a reason why I very rarely go near Twitter; because when that lot get going like a bunch of screaming, demented baboons flinging shit at their chosen target, it's unbearable to watch.

All I will say on the matter is that when those who are shouting the loudest can stand up, look me in the eye and show me that they have NEVER once made an ill-advised or inappropriate comment, or spoken without thinking under pressure, or just - basically - made a mistake, then I'll take them seriously.

But they can't, because they've all done it.  We all have.  Every man, woman and child on the planet has made a stupid misjudgement at some point in their lives - and most of us have the benefit of not doing it in front of a room full of people and five hundred cameras.

So, they'll happily tear down two amazing men who have done wonders for people less fortunate for themselves because of one human misjudgement.  They'll happily tear them down because their voice HAS to be heard - their ego HAS to be let off it's leash. Hang the consequences for J2 and the rest of the fandom.

Well, they're so fond of judging people, now I'm going to judge them.  They make me sick.  I don't care about them, I don't care about their offended sensibilities.  They are self-righteous, hypocritical twats.  The worst kind of narcissistic bullies, because it all has to be about them.

I hope Jared and Jensen have the strength to weather this storm, and can take comfort in knowing that they can count on the support of the REAL fandom - a fandom which wouldn't exist without them. I support @Jensenackles and @Jarpad 100%.

And as for the Drama Llamas - just go and crawl back under your rock - I'm sure you'll find something else to be offended by soon.

By now, most people in the Supernatural fandom will have heard the news that Rogue Events have gone into administration.  So that's it.  Asylum conventions are no more.  It's a big blow to UK Supernatural fans and to the European convention circuit generally.

I've had time, since the news broke yesterday, to digest all the fall out, and the thing that is clearest to me in all this, is that Rogue have gone down in the manner they always existed, in utter chaos.  Their ignominious end is entirely self-inflicted.

Last night terrorists, not content with murdering children in Manchester, descended on my home city of London for the second time in two months.  This attack hit home for me very literally because the areas where they hit, London Bridge and the Borough are all around where I lived the first ten years of my life, where my roots are firmly and permanently put down.

Watching the footage from the Borough last night was surreal, and seeing the great old St George the Martyr church, the church where my Grandparents were married, where my Dad was christened and where I was bridesmaid to my lifelong friend, front and centre during such horrible scenes made me both desperately sad and bitterly angry.

My afore-mentioned lifelong friend, Jane, is Church Warden at that church and I was texting her last night to make sure she's okay.  She is.  Thankfully she stayed home last night (sadly it's because her husband is poorly) but she's safe and I can't be anything but happy and relieved about that.

I had to put some thoughts down on paper last night before I could sleep, and I tidied them up this morning so that they were actually readable!!!!

This is what I had to say:

Dear terrorist/s.

I don't know what your grudge is, and frankly, I don't care.

I don't yet know whether you're alive or dead and, guess what? Yep - you got it - I don't care about that either.

What I do know is that I'm so sorry that people had to die because of your sad and pathetic need to shake your fist at the world, and your deluded belief that this kind of action will change us. Well, guess what. Next weekend, I will make a point of travelling up to London, to the Borough, where my roots are firmly and eternally put down, and I will do it purely and simply to show you that YOU HAVE FAILED.

My thoughts are with the people who died last night, and those who are left behind. I hope they can find peace in the knowledge that London will unite behind them and carry them through this unspeakably painful time, and that every person who died last night was worth a thousand of you.

You? I've forgotten you already.

Me after trying (unsuccessfully I might add) since the first week of January to navigate the HM Revenue and Customs idiotic Website so I can file my sodding tax return online.

Please can I do this to HM Revenue and Customs? Please?  Can I?

Bowie, Pete Burns, Prince, Rick Parfitt, Greg Lake and now George Michael ...

I feel like the soundtrack of my youth is slowly being erased.

Please, no more :(

I've just been to see 'The Force Awakens', and it was great, really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend it.  They've gone back to the grittier feel of the original movies, and I'm all for that.

I've just spent a nice couple of days down on the Isle of Wight visiting my parents.

This post may sound like a moan, but let me first qualify things by saying that I love my parents dearly; I would walk through Hell for them without question.

The same, however, cannot be said of my Mum's unswerving and obsessive fascination with her own (and by extension - my) family.

Family don't end with blood. )

It's sad that we feel the need to do this, but I am more than happy to spread a little love for our adorable moose and his delightful family.

I was sorry to read that my friend milly_gal suffered some disappointment yesterday, and so in true Dizzo tradition, I'd like to post a mature and measured response to those responsible.

Hope this makes you smile, hunny! )

As many of you may know, here in the UK, Sky Living have axed Supernatural, leaving UK fans unable to legally watch our show without waiting over a year for the DVD's to be released.

So I have decided to follow in the footsteps of these lovely ladies and send my own plea to UKTV, on the basis that if they get swamped with requests, they might get an idea of the strength of feeling (and more importantly, the size of the influx of viewing figures).

This is what I sent:

A plea for mercy! )

If you wanted to add your voice to our crusade, you can contact UKTV here.  Let's keep it nice, make them think we're the sort of people they'd like to have around.  Either that or make them so desperate, they'll buy Supernatural just to get us to shut the hell up!!!

We call ourselves the Supernatural Family, and in many positive ways that is so appropriate; just like a family we support, respect and defend each other - there's a lot of love in this Family.  Unfortunately, however, family can occasionally exasperate and disappoint you, and in that negative respect, this 'Family' is no different there, too.

DON'T!

I just found out today that I've got to attend a meeting next week, about my company's pension scheme.  And it's pencilled into my diary for four hours.

FOUR HOURS???

Talking about pensions?

I can feel my brain liquifying as I type; it's dribbling out of my ears. Oh heck, that's gonna stain the couch!

Sheesh, I can feel a spam coming on ...

For the purposes of preserving what little sanity I've managed to scrape up off the carpet and to celebrate Supernatural being reviewed for a tenth season, here are ten pictures of Dean/Jensen that make me giggle!

Silliness abounds ... )
