It's getting to that time of year again, and I'm starting to think about Christmas cards.

I have my fandom list, and so if you're not on it and would like to be, please can you leave your proper posting name and address as a comment below (I've screened them), or DM me with the details.  Same if your address has changed.

All my cards will be Spn themed and I will aim to send them out very early in December!

It's seventeen years today since Castiiel made his first (and very memorable entrance) into Supernatural, and into our lives:

Here at Chez Disney we decided to mark the occasion in our own modest way, with mini Castiel, a fine autumn day and a glass of New Zealand's finest.
We're sure Castiel would approve!

Happy birthday Castiel!

I couldn't let this auspicious occasion pass without paying tribute to our 'little show that could', the little show that enhanced my life in so many wonderful ways, and brought all of you into my world!

supernatural day

I can't believe it's been twenty years since Supernatural first aired, and it's a testament to the show, everyone involved with it, and the fandom that grew up around it, that it's still delighting people and gaining fans every day.

And I'm sure it's got absolutely nothing to do with these three gorgeous nutters!

In the interests of being better organised, here is the link to my fanfic.net page where every fanfic I have ever written is listed in chronological order.

http://www.fanfiction.net/u/2384416/Dizzo

Most of these fics have appeared over here at one time or another, but it's hard to keep track of them, so I'm very happy to sit back and let FF.net do the work for me :)

I've been trying very hard to keep my writing arm in and keeping up with the monthly drabble challenge on Fanfic.net.

So, as it seems ages since I shared any writings here, I decided to share a few of my latest scribblings!

Enjoy!! (well, you don't have to - I just hope you do.)

Yesterday marked four years to the day that Supernatural, the special little show that made it's wonderful mark on my life in so many ways aired its final episode.

I thought I'd post today because today marks four years to the day that I watched that episode. I watched it with darling jj1564.

20th November 2020 was the height of the second Covid lockdown in the UK, so when I said I watched it with June, we were both in our own homes on screen, watching the episode between us. We chatted, we laughed, and ultimately, we cried at the end of something so beautiful. But the fact that, four years on, most of the friends I met through the Supernatural fandom are still an important part of my life speaks volumes about how precious our show was to all of us.

Sadly, as you know we lost June in April 2021, and experiencing the end of our show with her makes it even more special and poignant.

Like many of us, I was devastated about the end of Supernatural. However, four years on, I know the joy and memories it brought me will never end.

This vision of loveliness was me ten minutes after the end of the episode, and i know for a fact I wasn't the only one!Yikes! )316280787_2344891302336545_1156705193711635341_n

I know I'm a day late, but it's been a busy couple of days.  However, I couldn't let the occasion pass without marking 19 years since our little show started airing.

The show that introduced me to Jensen and Jared, and so many gorgeous friends and, without question, changed my life.  So, yes, I'm going to celebrate the day!

HAPPY SUPERNATURAL DAY!

And so forgive my indulgence, here to celebrate is my favourite BTS photo of all time...

Summergen wrapped this weekend, and now I can unleash my contribution upon the world!

Too Close for Comfort

My prompter, Yoann's, original prompt was for a brother bodyswap.  How could I resist???

It seems like an age since I posted a drabble here, well it is an age - amazingly it's been two months since I even wrote one!

But Summergen gave my wilted writing muscles a little stretch, and then the Olympics gave me a little bit of much-needed inspiration, and ta-dah...

This was the result:

OH-LYMPICS

Challenge words: hide and fun.
Dean's less than impressed about certain aspects of the Olympics - like, the sports bit.

This little drabble was written for the Fanfiction.net weekend drabble challenge.  Challenge word: action

HAPPY ENDING - SORT OF...

Baby had a lot of time to think during the watches of the night while she was parked up in the bunker's garage.

For instance, tonight Baby was thinking about movies, mainly because earlier today, Dean had been boring Sam to death talking enthusiastically about a particular movie he'd watched last week. Baby wasn't entirely familiar with the concept of movies, but according to Sam, this movie had involved a ridiculous amount of violence, an equally ridiculous amount of boobs, space lasers, some bad-tempered aliens that looked like they were made of play-doh, dialogue that appeared to have been written by one of said aliens and not a lot of plot.

Baby decided that if a movie was made about her and Dean, it would be a soaring epic of love and peril. There would be plenty of action (Baby had always wanted to participate in a car chase) and adventures for the brave and handsome hero together with his devoted partner, Baby.

Of course, at the end, there had to be a happy ending and the brave and handsome hero, having overcome all kinds of trials and adversity, would get the girl.

And Baby would hate the bitch.

MISTER MOTIVATOR

Written for the weekend drabble challenge on Fanfiction.net.  The challenge word was 'core'.

WOW: core. Sam's trying hard to motivate Dean - but Dean's not making it easy for him

xxxxx

Sam stood over Dean and sighed.

"Come on Dean, you can do better than that."

"Bite me, Sam. I'm freaking trying. This was your stupid idea."

"Come on Dean, give it everything you've got."

"Give me a minute Sam, gotta get my breath back."

"Dean, this is pathetic."

"Gaaaahhh…nnnnnggggg….uuuuuuuuuuuggghhhhh….GAH! I did it, Sam, I did it!"

"Well done Dean."

"Well you could look a bit more excited for me, dude – I've worked hard for this."

"Dean, that's one sit up – the exercise program says you've gotta do twelve. Your core's in such bad shape, how are you even still upright?"

Here's a little drabble written for the FF.net weekend drabble challenge

EYE OF THE BEHOLDER

Challenge words: draw and call:

"Hey Sam, can I ask you something?"

"Sure, shoot."

"So, as part of his 'human experience' obsession, Castiel's taken up drawing, and today he made a sketch of me."

"Ok."

"Yeah, look…"

"Oh, it's… erm…"

"Yeah, well, I wanna ask you. Be honest, are my ears really that big?"

"Um... they're not small … but I wouldn't say they're huge."

"What d'y mean, Sam, 'they're not small'?"

"You asked me to be honest Dean, what would you call them?"

"I'd call them perfect."

"Whatever makes you happy, dude."

"Yeah, well, don't look so smug Sam; he wants to draw you next!"

I've decided to post a little more fanfiction at my journal this year.  I've lost a bit of moho where fanfic is concerned over the last year, I hope that this might help inspire me a little bit more!  I've been a bit unproductive over recent weeks while all the madness of the festive season has been going on, but on Monday, I did manage to put together a doluble drabble to celebrate new year.

So happy new year!!

MORE HONOURED IN THE BREACH

Rating: K+
Characters: Dean, Sam, Castiel, Jack
Word Count: 200
Summary:  It's new years eve in the bunker and the boys are discussing resolutions:

xxxxx

It was new year's eve in the bunker and the Winchesters, together with Castiel, were deep in conversation, schooling Jack in the matter of new year's resolutions.

Castiel had suggested that the best way to demonstrate the concept to Jack would be for he and the Winchesters to make resolutions and, much to Dean's displeasure, stick to them.

Sam was totally on board with the idea; of course he was, Dean thought, the guy's life was one long resolution. And when Sam suggested giving up beer for the whole of January, Dean seriously had to think back to remember if he'd ever dropped him on his head as a baby.

Castiel thought hard. Choosing a resolution was not so easy for the angel as he neither ate, drank, or experienced cravings as humans did. Eventually he settled on promising to help Sam with the laundry at least once a week.

Dean thought long and hard, he wasn't in the habit of making resolutions, but he reluctantly accepted that he had to send the right message to Jack.

"Okay," he announced proudly, "I'm giving up giving up things."

Castiel stared, "But Dean, that's …"

"Shut up Cas. Don't confuse Jack now."

This one was a long time coming!

Originally planned for May 2020, the pass was booked in Summer 2019.  Five times postponed, there were times when all of us thought that it would never happen.  But thanks to the perseverence of Daniela and the JIB team, it did.

There were a couple of last minute cancellations - Karl Urban was due to be there, but had to cry off, and Tom Ellis too, but Daniela managed to secure a couple late replacements, including Drake Rodgers and Jojo Fleites from 'The Winchesters'.

A few of us flew in a day early so that we could get a headstart on the socialising, and so on our first full day, four of us headed off to Ostia which is a ruined city which used to be Rome's main port.  It was great wandering around and having a leisurely catch up before the madness of the next few days began!

The convention itself began on Thursday with JIBLand, the multi-fandom segment of JIB, and that was the day we first met Drake and Jojo.  They quickly established themselves as two convention darlings, and have certainly made me want to go back and rewatch the Winchesters (I'm up to episode 6).  Also on the first day we had the return of Ricky Whittle from American Gods, Alexander Vlahos from Versailles and David Ramsay from Arrow.  We also knew that Ricky Whittle was a bit of a nutter who adores JIB, but paired with Alexander, who takes being a nutter to a whole new level, their panels were absolute hilarious bedlam.

Here are my Mugshots from the first couple of days

So it's been two years ago today that Supernatural came to an end and left us all a little bit bereft.

I remember that day very well.  I watched the finale on the morning after it aired, and I watched with jj1564.  It was Covid times then, but we were both on Fb messenger and interacting as we watched.  I had taken the day off work because I knew I wouldn't be able to function at work as if nothing had happened that day, and judging by the picture below taken straight after the episode, it's a good job I did.

So, many words have been written about the impending prequel from Supernatural, the WInchesters.

It's clearly divided opinion.  Many are really on board with the idea, some obviously aren't, and judging by things I've read on Twitter in recent weeks, some of those who aren't really need to wind their neck in.  The hateful shit that is spewing out of some corners of fandom is ridiculous, and totally not okay.

But, that aside, from my point of view, it's not the spin-off I would have chosen, as I have no particular love for either John or Mary, but here we are.  It's Jensen's baby, and I trust him to honour the Supernatural legacy so I will definitely give it a chance (although I'm not sure yet how I'm going to watch it here in the UK ... that's something I need to figure out).

But the whole thing has got me thinking to what spin-off I would like to see, and I know exactly what that would be.

Okay, humour me here...

Sam and Dean (played by Jared and Jensen of course) just puttering around the bunker doing boring everyday and domestic stuff.

Just picture it:

  • The supply run where Sam didn't forget the pie

  • The day Dean's memory foam mattress was delivered

  • The day Dean changed his duvet cover for the first time

  • Sam stomping out of the laundry room, moaning that Castiel's tie has turned all their smalls blue

  • Dean in the kitchen trying to figure out why his souffle has collapsed

  • The shirtless boys washing the Impala on a hot summers day

  • Sam and Dean arguing over the remote

  • Sam pretending he doesn't know that Dean has every episode of the Great British Bake Off saved on Tivo

  • Dean making no secret of the fact that he knows Sam has 'Titanic' saved on Tivo

  • and the true horror episode ... unblocking the toilet

I would pay good money to watch that!
