As you're aware, I had my birthday with this incredible crowd in Venice:

It's been a fabulous few days, with a trip to Vencie which included me having a birthday there, then a train journey down to Rome for Jus in Bello convention.

I got back to the UK on Tuesday, and I'm still easing myself back into real life!

This post will focus on my Venice trip because i haven't scanned my JIB photos yet, and if I posted everything here, you'd probably die of old age before you finished reading it!
So a trip to Venice was exciting because I'd never been there before, and having a birthday in Venice was awesome.  And having both of those things surrounded by great friends was priceless!

I was in Venice with amberdreams heavenli24 herminekurotowa Natalie, Chris, Ma Lou, Stephanie, Wendy, and Monica. We all arrived a different times and from different places, but by lunchtime on the 1st of April we were all reunited!

On 1st April, a trip to the Basilica San Marco and the Doges Palace was the order of thr day.  I can honestly say, it's the first time in my life i've been in a torture chamber on my birthday but hey, life is full of surprises right??

While we were there I fell in love with these beauties!

And this is the Doges Palace - very understated, right?

SPN100 Challenge: Decisions Decisions - Dizzojay - Supernatural (TV 2005) [Archive of Our Own]

2020 SG

Yesterday marked four years to the day that Supernatural, the special little show that made it's wonderful mark on my life in so many ways aired its final episode.

I thought I'd post today because today marks four years to the day that I watched that episode. I watched it with darling jj1564.

20th November 2020 was the height of the second Covid lockdown in the UK, so when I said I watched it with June, we were both in our own homes on screen, watching the episode between us. We chatted, we laughed, and ultimately, we cried at the end of something so beautiful. But the fact that, four years on, most of the friends I met through the Supernatural fandom are still an important part of my life speaks volumes about how precious our show was to all of us.

Sadly, as you know we lost June in April 2021, and experiencing the end of our show with her makes it even more special and poignant.

Like many of us, I was devastated about the end of Supernatural. However, four years on, I know the joy and memories it brought me will never end.

This vision of loveliness was me ten minutes after the end of the episode, and i know for a fact I wasn't the only one!Yikes! )316280787_2344891302336545_1156705193711635341_n

Blue Sky

I have deleted my Twitter (X or whatever crap it's called now) account and walked away from that hellscape. I never used it much, mainly for GISH stuff, and in truth I never much liked it, but ever since the Muskrat took over it's gone from being bad to become an absolute cesspit.

I've now signed up to Blue Sky, and early indications are I rather like it. I'm still playing there at the moment, but I'm viewing it as a new platform to play with my fandom stuff, especially as Dreamwidth and Livejournal have got a bit tired - don't worry, I'm not going anywhere!

There will also be bunny stuff on Blue Sky!

If any of you are over there, do come and find me!

I'm sending virtual hugs and positive thoughts to any of my lovely Dreamwidth friends who are in the path of Hurricane Milton.  I wish I could do more from here across the pond, but I'll be thinking of you all over the coming days.

Stay safe.

... okay, now that I have your attention.

As some of you may be aware, I had a computer hiccup earlier in the year, and lost a few documents.  One of which was my Supernatural Christmas card list.  So since then, I've been trying to recompile that list, but I know I've still got a sizeable number of people missing as the list is about half the length it used to be.

I know not everyone is still on Lj so it may be that I'll have to settle for what I have, but I'm going to do what I can!

So far, I have
amberdreams dean_hugs_sammy xlittleangx sasha_dragon julchen11 herminekurotowa jdl71 supernutjapan 999alena deanshot deceptivemirror sandy79 yeuxdebleu and apachefirecat over on Dreamwidth.

If you're not on this list, and used to get a card from me - and, of course, would still like one - please can you dm me your address?

Thank you!!

And because I'm not really a tease ... )

I've just got back from a weekend celebrating the wedding of Sam, jj1564's son, and the beautiful Yuki.

It was such a lovely weekend, happy and emotional at the same time.  June was not forgotten; she was remembered and celebrated all the way through the day. She would have been so proud of the amazing man that Sam has become an the lovely wife he has chosen.

It was also great to catch up with milly_gal as well, it seems to be such a long time since I've seen her.

Here's a few pictures of the day:

I very much feel like I've been neglecting my Livejournal for a while.  However, the simple fact is, here's not a lot going on right now.  My conventions are over for the year, so I'm not doing any spn-related artwork at the moment,  the buns are being cute as usual and life is just ticking along quite nicely without too many bumps in the road.

However, there are a few things going on and so I thought I'd do a little update from Dizzo-land!

It's been a while right?

I've been in Germany for a week, catching up with friends and going to Purgatory convention.  I got back home at 9pm on Monday!

It's been an amazing week, busy and exhausting but always a joy to be with my chums and to get up close and personal with the boys!

There will be photos to follow in a few days, but in the meantime here's a sneak peek of me with my friend stellamira and a very special guest at the convention...

More to come and, of course, just because it's been so long, here's Jensen - just because!

 Warning: another image heavy post!

Last weekend was the second convention of my year - and the only one in the UK.

It was touted as a Supernatrural/Boys convention and had a good cross section of guests.  It was great catch up with my fabulous partners in crime, amberdreamsheavenli24sasha_dragonchellexxx, and edina_clouds128 as well as friends not on Lj.

As well as regular, much-loved guests such as Mark Sheppard (Crowley), Misha Collins (Castiel), Tomer Capone (Frenchie) and Rob Benedict (Chuck), there were some less frequent but no less welcome guests such as Steven Williams (Rufus), Corin Nemec (Christian Campbell), Todd Stashwick (Dracula) and Karen Fukuhara (Kimiko).

After the end of the convention, amberdreams and I ran into Rob Benedict at the railway station.  he looked genuinely happy to see us and we had a nice little chat.  He was heading up to Edinburgh to go back to Ruth and little Margaret, and we asked him to pass on our best wishes to them.

We truly are blessed to have so many genuinely lovely people involved in our show and our fandom!

Warning: Image heavy post!

So that was another Jus in Bello.  A fabulous time again with great people in the eternal city! I never stop being grateful that I have the opportunity to do this every year and with such great friends!

The adventure started on Thursday last week when I flew into Rome, and undertook that familiar trek through the airport to the Hilton hotel.  It really does feel like coming to a second home!

Thursday was a time for us to all start converging on the hotel at various times and from various directions, and then Friday was time to chill and catch up in the morning before festivities began in the afternoon.

It's really the Saturday morning of JIB when madness descends - that's when J2 turn up and forget the fall of Rome - this is the fall of a whole room of fangirls!

So as well a J2 photos and J2 autographs , I was lucky enough to snag a Jensen meet and greet this year.  I told him about June and how the Spn fandom helped her and he was really moved.  He said that it had always been a way that he and Jared kept themselves in check by saying 'what we're doing is important, but it's not THAT important, we're not curing cancer'.  However, after hearing stories like June's before, and seeing for himself the positive effects of the Spn fandom, they changed that to 'we're not curing cancer, but perhaps we're indirectly giving people some support and positivity to fight it better.'

As always, it was a great, well thought out reply!

So, it's an undisputed fact that I am a total dunce when it comes to technical stuff.

This is evidenced by the fact that every now and again, I'm tippy-tapping away on my computer and I think to myself, 'I really must back all this stuff up at some point'.  And do I do it?  No, of course I bloody don't, because that's something someone with two functioning brain cells to rub together would do.

*sigh*

So, I guess you know where this is going...

A couple of weeks ago, my laptop had some kind of mysterious technical burp - no idea when or why or even what happened, but the bottom line is that several documents that I had saved have somehow spontaneously disappeared.  These were long-standing documents that I've been dipping in and out of for years, things like dapplegrey art stock record and my list of birthday dates.  I've looked in my junk folder, I've looked in other folders, I've looked in the computer search function, heck, I've even looked down the back of the sofa and these documents are gone forever, vanished into the ether somewhere.

Now, unfortunately one of the missing documents is my Supernatural Christmas card list - which is an embuggerance of epic proportions!

Therefore, I have a favour to ask...

Those of you that are on my Christmas card list, you know who you are - which is good, because I don't any more :(

Please could you add your name and post address to this post (I have screened comments) or send it to me in a DM if you feel more comfortable doing so!

Thank you.  Luckily, I've got plenty of time to rebuild my Christmas card list...

And do a sodding back up!!!!!!

I'm writing on behalf of Mr D.

Yesterday evening, we were just sitting chatting and in the background there was a show on Sky called 'how do they do it?' which we were sort of and sort of not watching.

Then an item came on about canned bread.

Mr D and I had never heard of such a thing; there's no such thing here in the UK.  We watched the segment about the canned bread with fascination, and now Mr D is desperate to try it.

I've been having a look online, and it just doesn't seem to be available here at all, I would have to order it from the US and the shipment fees are stupid, so I was wondering if one of my US chums could buy us a can of B&M canned brown bread and post it to us?  I would, of course, send the cost and the postage to you right away (I can use Paypal or Wise).

You would make Mr D a very happy boy!

Thank you!

Now that the sorting out from Christmas is over, I want to post here to thank you all for the wonderful load of fandom cards that I received.  It's always a delight to see a card drop through my door with an overseas stamp on it, and please know I appreciate each and every one, together with all the stickers, sweeties and other goodies that they included!

This year I got such a wonderful selection of cards from theympsillie82herminekurotowajdl71casey28xlittleangxraloriadean_hugs_sammyedina_clouds128supernutjapanamberdreamsandiivalomeazrael_64heavenli24, and sasha_dragon

Thanks also to my non-Lj friends, Steph, Malou, Natalie and Chris, Wendy, and Jacq.

And finally, lovely cards from jj1564's family; Brenda, her sister and Sam, her son.

If I've missed anyone from this list, I'm really sorry and it certainly wasn't intentional - I loved all my cards!!

This JIBcon was shaping up to be very different to those gone before, mainly because of Misha's absence, but in the interests of turning a negative into a positive, we thought, 'well that's going to shake up the dynamic a bit', and it really did.  The final panel, which would ordinarily be Jensen and Misha was Jensen and Richard with a little Jared and Rob thrown in.  And it was pure, pure anarchy.  Laugh out loud ridiculousness from beginning to end!  If you get the chance to watch it on Youtube, do - it was fabulous madness!

The addition of Jojo and Drake from the Winchesters was another plus - they're quickly establishing themselves as convention darlings.  But as always, the main draw was each other.

Along with amberdreamsheavenli24stellamiradean_hugs_sammy, and our other non-LJ friends, Wendy, Natalie, Chris, Monica and many others, this was a classic weekend.

There have been three JIBs in quick succession thanks to the catch up from Covid, so it could be reasonable to assume the energy and enthusiasm is starting to wane.  However, at this JIBcon, it seemed the exact opposit was true.  The positive energy of this weekend was palpable, and when JIBcon 2024 was announced, there was a stampede to pre-register.

As always, Jensen and Jared were adorable, and gave so generously of themselves for everyone at the convention, and from my own personal point of view, I had a couple of lovely one-on-one exchanges with Jensen that made my little fangirl heart flutter!

When I approached Jensen for my fourth photo with him, he grinned and winked at me, and I just laughed and said, "yep, me again - the bad penny!"
Jensen put his arm around me and said, "oh no, a good penny.  A shiny penny!"  Yes, OK, I kind of evaporated on the spot, so sue me!

At the Monday concert, it was a great event at a fab venue, and right at the end, Jensen et al, sang Hallelujah (the Leonard Cohen song).  The Monday is always an emotional night anyway because it's the last night before we all go our separate ways, but with that song being sung - by Jensen no less, at the end of it, eveyone sitting at our table - me included - was in floods!

After I had composed myself, I went to say thanks to Daniela, the organiser, and I stepped back from giving her a hug, Jensen walked right toward me.  He grinned again, and I blurted out 'that was fabulous - you made me cry!"  To my utter shock, he came over and took me by both hands and thanked me for coming!

Yep, and I evaporated again.  I seem to have spent a lot of this weekend in a gaseous state.  Or maybe just in a state!

So in summary, it was another fabulous JIBcon.  Rome was gorgeous, Jared and Jensen were gorgeous, all my JIBcon lovelies were gorgeous...

I can't wait to do it again next year!
