Crossroads Convention
May. 15th, 2025 07:46 pm Wow, how has it been almost a month since I posted?
Well, since I plummeted off the face of the LJ planet, I have attended Crossroads convention in Birmingham, and a great time was had by all, all being
amberdreams,
sasha_dragon,
chellexxx,
heavenli24,
edina_clouds128, Natalie and Chris.
There were a great range of guests, including Jard, Misha, LIsa Berry, Osric Chau, Julian Ritchings, Sam Smith, Mark Sheppard, Ruth Connell, and a really interesting addition was Matt Frewer, aka Pestilence.
I'll post pics of my photos when I've got around to scanning them, but until then, here are my autographs for the weekend:

Dean - fan art
Nov. 3rd, 2024 07:11 pmI came across a picture of Dean on the internet the other day, and it really caught my eye. It was beautifully lit and his face was slightly uptilted and in deep shadow. It really captured my imagination, so I decided to see if I could reproduce it.
It's difficult to match the saturation of colours on a screen with pastels, but I'm generally happy with how it came out!

Artwork - Dean
Mar. 28th, 2024 05:49 pmSo I've just completed another convention portrait - 'the Winchesters' era Dean.
I'll confess that I find Jensen's characters so difficult to draw, it's almost as if I'm intimidated by his face!
Over the last six months I've tried five times to do a Dean portrait and this is only the second one that has come anywhere close to being successful!
But I'm happy, if not ecstatic, with it!!

It's Bobby!
Mar. 24th, 2024 07:24 pmSo, through my usual level of spectacularly bad planning, I seem to have booked myself into four conventions this year, all of which are only seven weeks apart.
As I am wont to do, I've been doing some artworks for autographs and in Autumn last year, I'd set myself a goal of having twelve character portraits ready by the time I leave for JIB in mid-April.
Then my muse decided to go on strike and for weeks I couldn't produce a single picture that didn't look like it had been produced by a trained chimp. By Christmas I'd managed to produce two pictures that I was satisfied with, and decided to take a break.
Anyway, by the new year, I picked my pencils up again and it seemed that my muse had decided to get her arse in gear again, and thankfully the pictures started flowing again.
And so here is picture number nine, my favourite grumpy old codger ... who else, but Bobby!

Christian Campbell
Mar. 3rd, 2024 03:13 pmFollowing the announcement that Corin Nemec is attending Crossoads 8 I decided to have a go at drawing Christian Campbell as that's one I've never done before.
I wasn't fond of Christian, didn't like the character at all, which probably means that Corin did a great job because he's actually a sweetie, so I hope he likes it!!

It's Crowley
Feb. 12th, 2024 06:33 pmWith Mr D taking it easy, that means I had an uneventful weekend too. He's feeling better, but despite that, he spoke to his boss this morning to alert her to the situation and thankfully she's instructed him not to come in at all this week, so he's working from home.
But that aside, I had plenty of time to sit and indulge in some art, and this time I've got a very familiar (and smug) face.

Nablopomo 2023 - Day 15
Nov. 19th, 2023 07:15 pm Day 15 - We're halfway there! Just pimp something you've made and/or written.
As it seems I have an onslaught of conventions planned next year, I've decided to start my convention arting early, and this week I finished a picture of Rufus, the first I'd ever done of him.
I thought this one might be a challenge as Rufus has rather a (and I mean this as nicely as possible) lived in face; he's very rugged, but in the end, I was rather happy with how it turned out :)

Jus in Bello - JIB13 artwork
Jun. 21st, 2023 09:57 pm I've just spent a few wonderful days in Rome at Jus in Bello 13. Fabulous friends and our wonderful cast made it another awesome weekend, and I'll post a lot more later (probably at the weekend).
However, just to kick things off, here is my autographed artwork from the event.

So that was Voughtcon!
May. 14th, 2023 08:17 pmIt's taken me a while to get around to posting this after my computer woes, but finally I've got my photos scanned, so here we go!
Voughtcon was about four weeks ago and it took place at the Renaissance Hotel, Heathrow, I was attending with
amberdreams. There were only four guests, and when we registered, we were told by a staff member that around 270 tickets had been sold, so we knew it was going to be a pretty leisurely and informal event.
