Wow, how has it been almost a month since I posted?

Well, since I plummeted off the face of the LJ planet, I have attended Crossroads convention in Birmingham, and a great time was had by all, all being amberdreamssasha_dragonchellexxxheavenli24edina_clouds128, Natalie and Chris.

There were a great range of guests, including Jard, Misha, LIsa Berry, Osric Chau, Julian Ritchings, Sam Smith, Mark Sheppard, Ruth Connell, and a really interesting addition was Matt Frewer, aka Pestilence.

I'll post pics of my photos when I've got around to scanning them, but until then, here are my autographs for the weekend:

It was Friday 10th March when amberdreamssasha_dragonchellexxxheavenli24, and our friends Chris and Natalie all converged along with me on the English south coast seaside town of Brighton for Crossroads 6 convention. Crossroads is always a nice, sociable convention, but there was tangible excitement this time around knowing that we were going to be joined by Jensen, in the UK for a con for the first time in five years and also, Danneel, for her first convention ever.

There were a great line up of guests, some regular favourites such as Mark Sheppard, Rick Worthy and Ruth Connell, and some new faces who havent been a to a UK convention for many years, if ever, such as Sam Ferris and Julie McNiven.

After all meeting up and registering on Friday, we rounded off the day with a great italian meal close to the hotel before the festivities began on Saturday morning.  My con began with my Jensen photo op and he gave me a big grin wen he saw me because he remembered me from JIB only two weeks before!

As I was standing in the photo queue, I amused myself observing all the many guests that had never met Jensen before as they staggered out from behind the photo booth after their photo op, fanning themselves, clutching their heart, red-faced and in some cases tearful; it was hilarious!  It was like watching survivors crawling out from a train wreck - yes, ladeez, welcome to the Jensen effect!

This weekend I was up at the NEC in Birmingham with edina_clouds128sasha_dragonchellexxx and our friends Chris and Natalie for Crossroads convention.

It was a great weekend, and the guests were wonderful.  For several of them it was their first convention since the pandemic, and there was real energy about the event.

I'm off to Crossroads convention in Birmingham next weekend with sasha_dragonchellexxx and edina_clouds128,  So, as usual, I decided to do a couple of artworks for the autographs!

So, after 18 months of frustrations, postponements and altered arrangements, I finaly got to go to one of the conventions I had booked back in 2019.  It was the Crossroads convention in Birmingham, England, and it was a fabulous weekend of fun, catching up with friends and happy tears.

Birmingham is about two and a half hours drive from my home, so I set off after rush hour and arrived at the Hilton around 1pm, and arriving at the hotel, and seeing the fans milling around outside chatting, and laughing, really made me feel like I'd come home.  It was an emotional moment!

Once I'd met up with [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon and [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx, and we'd registered for the con, we settled in for a nice meal and a chat.  We had a lot of catching up to do!

The convention was a lovely event, with a great lineup of guests, even Baby turned up for the occasion.  Unlike the good/bad old days of Rogue conventions, Starfury events are so much better organised, and the queueing, although a signiicant part of the day, is nothing like the neverending bunfights we used to endure.  It was all really quite civilised!

The organiser of the convention had made it clear that he wasn't going to go ahead if there was any possibility of needing screens between fans and guests, so as a great compromise, a 'no-touch' rule was put in place.  That meant lots of new ideas for photo poses.  I had a lot of fun trying new poses (there were a couple of pictures where we just didn't have time to get too imaginative!) and the guests were really up for it as well :)

At last!

Well, it's been almost exactly two years.  But at last I have a convention next week that's actually going ahead!!!

It's the Crossroads Supernatural convention in Birmingham, about a hundred miles from my home, and I have photo ops booked with Misha, Mark Sheppard, Ruthie, DJ, Ty, Julian, and Alex.

I'll be spending a wonderful weekend of Supernatural fun with [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon and [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx and I am so, SO looking forward to this.  I need this so much!

To get myself in the mood, I've been spending a weekend preparing and doing some artwork for autographs, and this is what I've ended up with after a productive weekend:

Mary Winchester

Jack

After the madness of 2018, I was expecting 2019 to be a much quieter, less busy year.

And of course, I was hopelessly, gloriously wrong about that!

There may not have been travels to Iceland and broken limbs to contend with, but there were six cons, European travels, lots of art, lots of writing and, yes, beautiful fandom madness!

Hey gang!

Did you miss me?  It's okay, you're allowed not to :)

I've just got back from a weekend in the wilds of Birmingham with my lovelies [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon and [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx at Crossroads con.  We had such a great time.  The con wasn't massive, and was very well organised, so we had lots of time to relax and catch up.

I'll post the mugshots later this week, but here's a lovely little picture of us on Friday eveing waiting for the opening ceremony!

It's only 2 days before [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon, [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx and I meet up at Birmingham for Crossroads Con, my final Spn con of the year.

An of course, that means preparations are afoot.

Here are my signing sheets for autos ...

I can't wait to catch up with my Girls again - it's going to be awesome!!!

2018 was a very significant year for me.  As you are all no doubt aware, and sick of hearing about, this was a milestone year for me.  I turned 50 in April, and my plan was to make this milestone year a year to remember.  I had a number of plans and special events planned, some fandom-related and some not.

The fun stuff ... )

Having returned from Jus in Bello, I had a couple of days to relax before I headed back up the M40 to Birmingham NEC, where I had been only ten days before, to the Crossroads convention.

I left Rome fairly confident that I had a dose of con-crud brewing; the hoarse voice, sore throat and headache were a dead giveaway, so having two days at home to do the sum total of not much was very welcome indeed.

I eventually hit the road on Friday lunchtime, and spent over three hours getting to Birmingham, thanks to traffic woes at either end of my journey (the 100 miles in the middle were a breeze!)

I was meeting up with my JIB cohorts, [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams, and [livejournal.com profile] heavenli24, together with the welcome additions of [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon, [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx, and [livejournal.com profile] andiivalo Unfortunate absentee [livejournal.com profile] xlittleangx was missed!

As I'd managed to download the season finale thagt morning, we had a little watch party in our room on the Friday evening, and that was a nice way to get in the mood for the weekend to come.

Starfury was a new experience or all of us.  They'd never run a Supernatural con before, and had stepped into the void left by Rogue, and generally, the con was great.  Much smaller than an Asylum convention, and infinitely better organised, [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon and I couldn't quite believe that we had all our autographs and most of our photos all done and finished by the end of the first day.

That's it.  Finally back from Crossroads in Birmingham, and that's the end of my Supernatural convention adventure.

I will post the next of my con reviews, probably tomorrow - my last day off before return to work, but today is just a much-needed rest day given that I'm beyond knackered and somewhere over the last few days I seem to have picked up a lovely dose of con-crud. I'm coughing and spluttering like a good-un, and my voice sounds like Castiel on helium, so taking root on the couch and nodding off like a sad old git is sounding pretty darn attractive at the moment.

It just remains for me to say thank you [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon, [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx, [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams, [livejournal.com profile] heavenli24 and [livejournal.com profile] andiivalo for your fantastic company this weekend.  It was a fun end to an unforgettable fortnight!

I'll try to do an F/list catch up later - after I've shut my eyes for an hour or two :D

*hugs*

So... my convention adventures start here!

I'm aware that I haven't been as active as usual on my F/list over the last few days, and sorry for that ... it's been a pretty crazy few days while I wrap up work and prepare everything for a concentrated fortnight of con madness!

Off work for two and a half weeks, I have three conventions coming up in as many weekends.

Up at the sparrow's fart of dawn to drive up to Birmingham for Creation SPNUK Con tomorrow, it's a hundred miles (more or less) and I aim to get there about 8 am.  The con started today, but I was finishing up at work, and I have been living vicariously through the girls who are already there, and them WhatsApping each other about where they're going and what they're doing!

I'm driving back home from Birmingham on Monday morning, and will have approximately 24 hours to turn things around; to do some laundry, and reacquaint myself with Mr D (he's recording Eurovision Song Contest for us to watch Monday evening because that's always good for a laugh), then at lunchtime on Tuesday, it's off to Heathrow Airport, and beautiful Roma bound again for JIBcon.

I'll be a week in Rome, and then back home to dear old blighty for a whole two days, before I head back up the M40 to Birmingham for the Starfury Crossroads convention, and three days of fun and frolics there.

Back home on Monday, then a day off to chill on Tuesday (be prepared for the photo op ONSLAUGHT), and finally, back to work on Thursday.

There's not a day goes by that I don't think back to the day I discovered Supernatural and the fabulous opportunities it has afforded me, and even moreso, the amazing people it has brought into my life.  Every day of the next fortnight is going to remind me of the gifts it has given me.

[livejournal.com profile] amberdreams, [livejournal.com profile] heavenli24, [livejournal.com profile] herminekurotowa, [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher, [livejournal.com profile] stellamira, [livejournal.com profile] dean_hugs_sammy, [livejournal.com profile] sasha_dragon, [livejournal.com profile] xlittleangx, [livejournal.com profile] sillie82, [livejournal.com profile] chellexxx and too many others to remember, I'm counting down the hours until we catch up again xx

And speaking of gifts ...

As I'm going to be living out of hotel rooms on and off for most of the next two weeks, my online time may be a tad sporadic, so tag me into anything you really want me to see, and until then, I'll catch up when I can.

Love you all xx
dizzojay: (Dean)
I said that I'd done all the portraits I was going to do for signing at the cons, and then I found I had a little bit of time on my hands, and there was one more guest at Starfury that I'd never met before and so ... this happened:

More work to do, but happy with my progress so far!
dizzojay: (Dean)
So, I know 've been a little bit quiet over the last couple of days ... after getting back from visiting my Mum and Dad at the weekend, I've been working on a  special commission this week, and still have a fair bit of work to do on it.

That aside, however, I've been becoming increasingly aware that the convention month of May is hurtling toward us, and once again it's that amazing time when I get to meet the boys, and catch up with all my fabulous convention buddies from all over the world.  Three conventions in three weeks.  It'll be exhausting, but wonderful!

So just to start easing myself into the mood, I've taken a break from working on the picture tonight, and instead I've been working on some signing sheets for the autograph sessions.

And here they are ...

Good times ... )
