I know I have been somewhat quiet here of late, particullarly depriving you of your Jensen Times for which I apologise profusely!

However, I have been buried in the mayhem that is GISH followed by a dapplegrey art show.

I'll post about the art show tomorrow, but here - hopefully for your amusement - is a collection of the reasons why I am guilty of dereliction of Jensen-related duties!

Task no. 33 - the team picture challenge: GRID ITEM. There are a multitude of species of life that exist only in the Amazon, and our wildlife biologists just found the rarest of all: your team! Show us an old-school natural history pinboard with your team as rare Amazonian insects. Every member of your team should be present and we must be able to clearly see your faces.
I was on a fabulous team that included tifaching and blackrabbit42 :)

So, we thought 2020 was bad, then 2021 stepped up to the plate. In some ways it was a little better than 2020, and in other ways it was profoundly worse.

The Supernatural fandom, and fandom in general was dealt an irretrievable blow in April 2021 when we lost [livejournal.com profile] jj1564.  The enthusiasm, friendship and joy that she brought to the fandom and to her friends is sorely missed and will never be forgotten.

But this post is not here to dwell on the negatives, I’m only going to focus on the fandom positives of the year. So, here goes…

Well that was another GISH.

They come and go, and this time I took part in a different team alongside [livejournal.com profile] tifaching and [livejournal.com profile] blackrabbit42.  We've talked about collaborating for years, and finally got around to doing it this time!

We had a good productive week with a lot of fun and hard work by everyone on the team.  So, without further ado, here are my efforts (in no particular order):

You’ve heard of Dad Jokes. Tell a Dadaist joke.
(When I put my name down for tis one, Mr D jumped at the chance of being involved!)

(if anyone isn't familiar with the term 'dada' or 'dadaist', it's an early-20th-century international movement in art, literature, music, and film, repudiating and mocking artistic and social conventions and emphasizing the illogical and absurd.

Yesterday was a six-hour mini GISH event, and I decided, after the intensity and emotion of the last few weeks, that a little bit of light relief was maybe just what the doctor ordered!

So, a little ragtag band of us comprised of two of my JIB buddies and [livejournal.com profile] blackrabbit42 were merged with five delightful german ladies, and we sallied forth and GISHed our little hearts our for six hours.  Now the event ran from 11 am - 5 pm Pacific time, which meant it ran from 7pm - 1 am here in the UK, and I can honestly say it's one of the first times in my life I was painting my face and playing with my Funko Pop minis at midnight.  But, hey-ho, it's all part of Life's great tapestry, right?

Here's Jensen and me mentally preparing ourself for the event!

Overall, I managed to complete four items, and here they are:

So, 2020. What can you say? Well, nothing polite, that’s for sure.

As for everyone, the year panned out to be one great big steaming cowpat. With all the Covid chaos, fires, floods, plagues of locusts, Brexshit, and to top it all, the end of Supernatural.

But this post is not here to dwell on the negatives (if I did, I’d be breaching the Lj word limit, no doubt), I’m only going to focus on the fandom positives of the year. So, here goes…

I managed to write more fandom words this year than last year. Last year’s word count was quite low, because of the studying I was doing early in 2019 (27,003). I was aiming to be up to about the 30,000 this year, but inspiration has been a little hard to come by, and in the end I finished up on 27,690. So, yes, a bit disappointing, but more than last year so we’ll call it a win anyway!

So it's been a crazy week of GISHing, and my brilliant team really gave it everything.  We don't have a final figure yet, but whatever it is, we can be proud of ourselves.

What made this GISH extra special was that for the first tme, Mr D signed up and took part.  Between us we completed 12 tasks, and had a lot of fun as always.

And so ... here are the mugshots!

If I haven't been around much over the weekend, it's because I was busy, along with 8 equally masochistic team mates, humiliating myself in the name of Random Acts.

This was a great GISH, and our team manged to complete 58 items out of the 108 items available!

I personally managed to complete 8 items, three more than the last one-day GISH in April, so I'm rather happy abut that.

Anyway, just for jolly, here are my random and occasionally crazy efforts:

That was the GISH that was... )

So, the one-day Quarantine GISH is over, and between us, our team managed to complete 38 of the 54 items, and I'm very proud of that!

As usual, creativity, humiliation and thinking outside the box (actually, forget the box - what box?) was the order of the day.  I managed to complete five items (and took part in a sixth, team-based item), and so - here are my efforts:7

Silliness here ... )

After the madness of 2018, I was expecting 2019 to be a much quieter, less busy year.

And of course, I was hopelessly, gloriously wrong about that!

There may not have been travels to Iceland and broken limbs to contend with, but there were six cons, European travels, lots of art, lots of writing and, yes, beautiful fandom madness!

So that was GISH for another year.

It was a fun week, albeit with a smaller team than usual, and we never got the opportunity to get together at any stage to do any group challenges, but even so with a team of nine (of which two ended up not taking part - one because of real life and one because she disappeared from the face of the earth), we still managed to complete forty tasks!

So, for what it's worth ... here are my contributions to our GISH efforts this year:

More GISH here )

Howdy!

I haven't been around much these last few days, but I have been using my time very constructively ... so long as your definition of constructive is pretty flexible!

I've been co-ordinating a fundraising week in aid of the Care Workers Charity at work, which has been great fun.  So far we've raised £582.  I'm aware of at least £350 more - I really hope we can make it over £1,500 when everything is totted up.

In addition, I've been preparing for my first big art show of the Summer season which kicks off next Saturday, which, in turn, always clashes with GISH (formerly known as GISHWHES).  So GISH kicked off last Saturday, and that means my evenings this week are filled with weirdness and wonderfulness as I work my way through that.  I have something lined up for tomorrow night, which I can't tell you about, but let's just say - it involves my tongue!!

In other news, I had a WONDERFUL day at London Film and Comic Con on Saturday where I met up with our gorgeous [livejournal.com profile] milly_gal and the almost as gorgeous John Barrowman.

Here are the mugshots...

Pictures be here ... )

So that's my week ... normal Jensen-lovin' service will be resumed shortly!

*HUGS*

So,, that's it all done for another year, possibly forever (at least until we find out what else Misha has up his sleeve for next year). As always, GISHWHES was the usual maelstrom of madness and humiliation with a generous splodge of creativity, and a fair helping of philanthropy thrown in.

Our team, which included (apart from me), [livejournal.com profile] amberdreams, [livejournal.com profile] milly_gal, [livejournal.com profile] xlittleangx, [livejournal.com profile] dean_hugs_sammy, [livejournal.com profile] herminekurotowa and [livejournal.com profile] edina_clouds128 had time frustrations pretty much throughout the week with work and other commitments imposing on our GISHing time.  We weren't able to get together for our usual GISH foray into London, but even so, we still managed to complete 97 tasks which included ...

Nose painting, pretending to be bumblebees and satellite dishes, making pavement art, making up a comfort bag for a cancer patient, playing interdimensional hopscotch, tobogganing in the middle of summer, raising funds to realise a dying woman's dream, wearing cabbage on our head, undertaking a toothbrushing survey, spoofing pretentious fashion adverts, leaving anonymous messages of support and comfort, writing a sonnet to string, turnning a shopping trolley into a spaceship, making clothing out of bananas and photocopying paper, making portraits of Misha out of breadcrumbs, baking banana cake for residents of a care home, and playing drums ... differently. .

So, just for jolly, here's a run down of my efforts for GISHWHES 2017, Team SPN Family Business:

I'm putting this one first, because if you don't look at anything else on this post, you need to see this ...

The challenge was: Play a few bars of a well-known tune on a well-known musical instrument—but not in the well-known manner. Play a cello tucked under your chin, a saxophone with mallets, or piano as a string instrument with a bow, that sort of thing. The more unexpected the utilization, the more points.

Now, I have no musical talent whatsoever, but Mr D does, so I left this task in his capable hands, and, boy, did he deliver
.  The video we submitted was only 14 seconds long, but this is Mr D's entire 3-minute masterpiece!

Here be Pictures: )

... Fear ye not, chums, I have not departed this mortal realm in any way, I am deeply immersed in the madness that is GISHWHES, getting up to all sorts of weird and wonderful shenanigans, and all at the same time both loving and cursing our great and mightly overlord, Misha.

Tomorrow is my first free Saturday for three weeks, and you won't BELIEVE what I'm going to spend it doing!

But that's for another day.

Normal Jensen-lovin' service will be resumed on Sunday, after the hunt closes, and after I can finally get some SLEEP!!

So in the meantime, please excuse my absence, and my lack of f/list action.  As Arnie once said ...

I'LL BE BACK!

And on the subject of Jensen-lovin' ... )
dizzojay: (Dean)
So, it's been a while ...

I haven't be in circulation much since the end of last week.  I spent the weekend on the Isle of Wight working my first big dapplegrey art show of the season.  It was an exhausting weekend, but a successful one, and I'm thrilled to say that this little guy went to a lovely new home ...

Bunny )

I got back from the Isle of Wight late on Sunday and headed straight off to work Monday morning.  It was an uneventful day at work, but the evening after I left work was anything but uneventful.  Stopping off on the way home at my local supermarket, I parked up, got out of the car and was walking across the car park to the shop, when I somehow managed to get my feet tangled in some litter that had been left lying around, and the end result was a spectacular faceplant in the middle of the car park!  *sigh*

Glamorous huh? )

So such is life - after flying high at the art show this weekend, I've started the new week with a grazed knee, squished hand and very bruised pride!

And on the subject of bruised pride, it's GISHWHES time, so utter humiliation is the theme for pretty much the rest of this week.  Therefore, if I seem a little elusive over coming days, fear not, I and my chums are merrily GISHing the week away, and will no doubt have a few tales to tell when it's all over!

Love you all!
*hugs*

GISHWHES!!!

Well, it came and it went and we all made prats of ourselves and did so gladly!

Due to not having any time of work, together with weekend commitments, I wasn't able to be as actively involved in GISHWHES this year as I was last year.

I was part of the team that travelled up to London and had a whale of a time at Comic-con completing several tasks; however, there were also a few tasks I managed to complete on my own.

And here, for your delectation ... or possibly, your amusement/disgust/disbelief (delete as applicable) are my indiivdual submissions ...

Gruesome humiliation here! )
dizzojay: (Dean)
Dear chums, I know I owe a couple of July Meme answers to  [livejournal.com profile] just_ruth and [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher who is celebrating a birthday today!!

I'e been caught up ing the wondeful maelstrom that is GISHWHES, and will be traipsing the streets of London today with a bevy of equally insane lovvelies looking for new and inentive ways to make a complete prat of myself.

In the meantime, here's wishing [livejournal.com profile] sinfulslasher the happiest of happies on her special day, and I will do my utmost to get your answers out to you later this evening.

So, in the absence of a cake, here's something else yummy and indulgent for the birthday girl!

dizzojay: (Dean)
[livejournal.com profile] milly_gal came up with this awesome idea ...

Self Rec of the Month

I think it's a lovely idea because we're all so bashful about reccing our own work, and it could unearth so many hidden gems for us all to enjoy!

Therefore with that in mind, and taking into account the fact that GISHWHES is almost upon us once again, I've nominated this little antique for an airing - hope you enjoy it!

THE GREATEST PUSHOVER THE WORLD HAS EVER SEEN

I guess this means I can go and become Prime Minister or something ...

Thanks Misha!!!!
