Day 30 - We started the month with something funny. Send us off with something else that tickles your funny bone!

I'm going to skip questions 28 and 29 as they seem quite repetitive, but I'm always up for posting something funny!

Here's a couple of recent photos that show how life with bunnies can be funny (and perplexing) sometimes!

The bunnies have a toy train ... believe it or not.  One day recently I walked into the living room to find one tiny, perfect little rabbit turd perched in the mathematical centre of the top of the train.

I'm still trying to figure out how it got up there.

Such is life with bun buns!  XD

Day 27 - Favorite holiday Candy, favorite holiday Coffee, favorite holiday Crush!

I don't think I have any favourite foods that are specific to this time of year.  My favourite holiday coffee is the same as my favourite coffee all year round - a Costa skinny hazelnut latte.  Favourite holiday candy is the same as it is at any other time of year; chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate.

And my favourite holiday crush?
T'was ever thus...

Day 26 - List the LJ friends that you have actually met in person. What did you do when you got together?

I'm very lucky to have met a whole load of my Lj friends in real life.  Some I've met just once, others I've met a few times ands others, well, they just can't get rid of me!

I've met my friends at conventions, social events, and through overseas visits, and I'm grateful for every single one that I've met.

The friends that I've met in real life include:

amberdreams
heavenli24
xlittleangx
dean_hugs_sammy
stellamira
herminekurotowa
sasha_dragon
chellexxx
andiivalo
cuddyclothes
milly_gal
blackrabbit42
tifaching
sillie82
sinfulslasher
tattooeddevil
theymp

and of course, a special mention for my beautiful jj1564

I know there will be some names I've forgotten because we don't interact much on Lj, but to know those people in real life still means the world to me!

I'm not sure I can think of 10 ways, I'm not a psychologist or anything, but I know we all have our self doubts and off  days.  There are times when we second-guess everything we do or say, I feel like I have those times every single day.

All I can say here is that I always try to be supportive of my friends and loved ones at those times.  I'm not special, I don't have all the answers, but I do have a shoulder - two, in fact - so I'm here to lean on when I'm needed, and if I can say the right words in the right order to make someone feel better, or suggest a possible solution, then I will.

I've had people do exactly that for me, and I'd be a shitty friend if I didn't return the love.

Day 22 - Write a list of the "treasures" in your life. How is your life "rich" because of these things?

The treasures in my life are very simple things.

Day 19 - List FIVE of your TEN BEST things!

I'm kind of thinking I listed 5 good things yesterday, so I'm not sure I have another five to list, so I'm just going to say that Mr D and I are going to London on Saturday to participate in this:

War-of-the-Worlds-The-Immersive-Experience-London-2

It's our Christmas present to each other and we've been looking forward to it for six months, I can't wait!!!

So yeah, that's one of the best things right now! :D

Day 20 - Share a random thought.

I was doing some cleaning in the house the other day and I randomly remembered how much I used to love using Brasso (metal polish) to polish brass when I was a kid. I don't know why exactly, because I hate cleaning generally, but I just used to enjoy the process of applying the metal polish to a dull surface, then rubbing it in, seeing all the tarnish coming off and buffing the brass up and seeing how lovely and shiny it got.   I haven't done it for years and years because we don't have any brass - or so I thought.  I had forgotten Barry has an antique fireman's helmet from New South Wales that's around 100+ years old.  He's had it since we went to Australia in 1997 and as far as I know he's never cleaned it because I was looking at it yesterday and it's really tarnished and dull.

So guess what I'll be doing on Sunday ...?? XD

Day 18 -  Take a minute or two and share five good/thankful things of today, uncut.

So, I'm always thankful for these two little ratbags.  I still think back to the night in November 2020 when I drunkenly exclaimed out of the blue that I wanted to have 'dinks' (my nickname for rabbits) again.  I'm thankful for the fact that Mr D was understanding enough to agree to me taking on 'dinks' and now I have these two little bundles of joy in my life, I love them to the moon and back fifty thousand times over.  And the best thing is Mr D who has gone from a passive observer to an unashamed bun-lover. He has seen first hand what intelligent, mischevious and engaging animals rabbits are, and the attitude they have.  He's not even ashamed to admit he loves those dinks even as much as I do!

279096522_553767166096260_7484957984050476650_n

Today I was at work, which proves that I have a job, so that is something to be thankful for.

I had a text from my Dad today which proves that he got over his health trials and tribulations of the last couple of years.  I'm going over to see him and my Mum in a month and I'm so thankful that his life was saved when things had gone horribly pear-shaped in early 2022.  He'll never run a marathon, but he's alive and he's functioning and I'm thankful for that.

I'm thankful that this gentleman is in the world.  There's a lot of ugliness in this world right now, and so it's like a tonic to see someone who's beautiful both inside and out!

403748682_756830713149645_2894281337276964706_n

I'm thankful that my gorgeous God-daughter, Amy, is over in the UK from New Zealand at the moment. She's been travelling around the UK and Europe for the last five months and she's coming over to us on Friday for the night.  I did see her back in July, but I was recovering from my eye surgery so couldn't drive and therefore we could only go for lunch in the village where I live.  This weekend I'm looking forward to taking her out for a proper dinner, and spending some real quality time with her.  She is an amazing young woman, and I am so very proud of her!

Day 17-  What movie, book, or TV episode makes you cry without fail? (Or get wibbly, if you're not a crier.)

There are lots of films and stories that get me snivelling; anything involving animals normally does the trick, and in that vein, a sure fire guarantee to get my waterworks flowing is Watership Down.

I guess this book always affects me so much because I have a historical bond with rabbits, I've kept them as pets on and off since I was eight years old.

The book is so beautifully written, and well researched.  A lot of people criticise Watership Down because parts of it are violent, they're distressing and sometimes full of despair.  Well, that's life when you're a wild rabbit.  Life's not a party when you're everyone's dinner, and I for one love that Richard Adams highlighted the challenges of bunny life and didn't fall into the cliche of turning Hazel, Fiver et al into fluffy bunny clones of Thumper.

The reader goes on such a  breathless journey of danger and survival along with the rabbits, I think that's why I find the ending is so sad and so beautiful, and it affects me every single time!

Day 16 - What's a TV show you don't particularly like anymore, but still watch for some reason? Why? (If you're smarter than most of us, which show did you want to love, but gave up on?)

I loved the reboot of Doctor Who, absolutely loved it.  Then toward the second half of the Matt Sith/Amy Pond years I started to lose the thread of the story, it unravelled even more during the Peter Capaldi years and then during the Jodie Whittaker years I felt like I was watching a sociology lesson, not a sci-fi show.

I'm so encouraged that David Tennant is back and Russell T Davies is back as showrunner, I really hope the show gets it's magic back, and I'm looking forward to seeing what Ncuti Gatwa does with the character!

In terms of a show I so wanted to love, I have to nominate Walker.  I really want to support Jared and I really wanted to love it, but I just couldn't.  I watched the first half of season 1 and just felt ... nothing.  Admittedly cop shows and family drama are just not really my thing, but one day I will try to revisit it.  I'm told that the show improves through the seasons, so one day I'll try again!

Day 15 - We're halfway there! Just pimp something you've made and/or written.

As it seems I have an onslaught of conventions planned next year, I've decided to start my convention arting early, and this week I finished a picture of Rufus, the first I'd ever done of him.

I thought this one might be a challenge as Rufus has rather a (and I mean this as nicely as possible) lived in face; he's very rugged, but in the end, I was rather happy with how it turned out :)

Day 14 - We're on a roll with the holiday stuff. So… what's your favorite holiday movie or TV episode?

Although it's not strictly a Chirstmas movie, I always associate the Wizard of Oz with Christmas here in the UK.  As a child, that was my favourite movie, and back in the day before VCRs, I used to look forward to Christmas every year so that I could watch it.

Then when my family got our first VCR when I was about 11, we recorded it that year.  And I tortured my parents with it on a daily basis for years afterward!  XD

And an honourable mention has to go to 'A Very Supernatural Christmas'.  I invariably laugh and cry within 45 minutes when I watch that fabulous episode!

Day 13 - What's a special tradition in your family that makes the holiday season special to you?

The only thing I can think of is Christmas breakfast.

The first Christmas breakfast Mr D and I had together as a married couple was cheese on toast, and that same breakfast is what we have had every single Christmas day that we've been at home in the 29 years that we have been married.  I always make it, and it's always the same ingredients - white farmhouse bread, real butter and mature cheddar cheese.  The sky would have to fall for us to have something different on Christmas morning!

That, I reckon, is the closest we come to any kind of tradition for Christmas!

Day 12 -  The holidays are coming. Which means good food. Share a recipe for a dish you love to enjoy during the Merry Thanksmas season. (So we can enjoy it too!)

This is kind of embarrassing, but I just don't cook.  I have no patience for it, no talent for it, and best of all I married a man  who is a great cook.  I've never owned a cookbook, so I literally don't know a single recipe.

Instead, I can present a recipe for the perfect Christmas as written by one Dean Wichester...

Enjoy!

THE DEAN WINCHESTER GUIDE TO A PERFECT CHRISTMAS MEAL

xxxxx

1. Roast the potatoes and parsnips until they're crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside.
2. Listen to Sam bitching about the amount of fat you use.
3. Drink beer.
4. Torment Sam with the turkey giblets (putting them in his coffee normally works a treat).
5. Don't forget to get some green shit to keep Sam happy.
6. Carve the turkey thinly and evenly; make constant references to breasts, thighs and legs while doing so to annoy Sam and embarrass Castiel.
7. Drink beer.
8. Sing carols loudly and obnoxiously, using inappropriate words.
9. Wait for Castiel to tell you that shepherds didn't wear socks back then.
10. Get the angel drunk and tell him his halo tastes of peanuts.
11. Under NO circumstances allow Sam to have extra sprouts.
12. Drink beer.
13. Watch Sam to set fire to his hair on a candle.
14. Make annual attempt on belching personal best (eight seconds is current record).
15. Instigate a food fight involving mashed potato, cranberry Jelly and leftover sprouts (the damn things have to be good for something).
16. Drink Sam's beer.
17. Try not to let on how much you love the two freaking dorks.

Day 11 - Who is your favorite sidekick? (bad and/or good)

There have been so many wonderful sidekicks across the years.  Robin, Samwise, Chewbacca, Castiel (is he a sidekick? I think he is, sort of) and Ron Weasley to name but a few.

But I'm running with a sidekick who I've followed across the centuries and loved as much at the end as I did at the beginning...

Baldrick.

Day 10 - Write about your first fandom crush(es). Post a picture of them if you can!

Anyone who has spent any time at my journal over the last 13 years, and who hasn't been living on Neptune willl know that my ultimate fandom crush is this gentleman:

Mr Jensen 'ovary murderer' Ackles

Throughout the Supernatural years and beyond, there have been many iterations of Jensen, and I love them all, but my heart will always belong to Dean!

Day 9 - Post a photo that you love.

This is a photo taken at the Jus in Bello convention in Rome in February this year.

People sometimes ask me why I keep going to Rome to the same place and doing the same thing year after year.  Now, of course, there's the draw of getting a squeeze with Jensen and Jared, but that aside...

This is why I do it.

Day 8 - Okay. Let's be real. We all have lives outside of LJ. What else are you obsessed with, love to do, or particularly good at, that most LJ'ers don't know about?

I'm not sure there's anything I do that my Lj F/list don't know about, so I'm going to post this interview that I did a few years ago when I was offering a commission as a prize for a work fundraising thing back in 2020.  It was right in the middle of Covid so there were no exhibitions, and I was desperate to have a reason to do some art!

The interviewer asked me about my origins in art and my inspirations (my Dad, of course), and overall I'm really pleased wiht this, my first proper interview!
