I've just been to see 'The Force Awakens', and it was great, really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend it.  They've gone back to the grittier feel of the original movies, and I'm all for that.

But  ...

THEY KILLED HAN SOLO!

BASTARDS!!!!!

IKR? And then I came away from the movie thinking (apart from KILLING HAN FUCKING SOLO) that movie was almost exactly the same as Star Wars the original. But not as good because THEY KILLED HAN FUCKING SOLO. Oh and to be fair, Rey was more attractive and fun than Luke. BUT how come she had the Force all of a sudden and could use it without any training? What happened to all the Yoda Jedi Master stuff?

Ack. I'm still left feeling disappointed with the film. As someone pointed out, if you'd never seen any of the first 3 films, this would have been great.

There was definitely a lot of similarities between this and A New Hope, and yes, I wasn't sure about the Rey using the force thing. I'm guessing all will be revealed in the later films!

I also enjoyed it, and my husband loved it. We're seeing it again later today.

I'm personally wondering how Finn was able to just throw off an entire lifetime of storm trooper training and rebel so completely on his very first try. He was trained/brainwashed to obey without question since birth. How do you just decide one day, on your very first assignment, "Nope, not gonna kill unarmed civilians after all! I have an inherent moral center, forged and nourished by no one!" Granted, no one goes to SW movies for their airtight plots, but still.

Heehee, yes, Finn obviously has a very powerful moral compass!
That'll teach the First Order to stick to using clones for their army :)

Probably. But we never saw the body, right? I reckon they're leaving themselves a back door just in case someone has enough money to pay Harrison Ford for a resurrection movie :P

I didn't think they were going to go through with it. I mean, it was Han Solo, for heaven's sake. You don't just KILL Han Solo. I mean, HAN FRICKING SOLO!!!!!!!! But, I guess to move the story along and for Ren to fall farther and farther to the Dark side he had to do something so reprehensible that no one would think there is a way for him to come back. But, if this 3-movie story arc follows the same progression as the first three then I would tend to think that Ren will find his repentance and end of saving the day. Or so I suppose.
