A Call to Arms ... UK Fans need our help!

As many of you may know, here in the UK, Sky Living have axed Supernatural, leaving UK fans unable to legally watch our show without waiting over a year for the DVD's to be released.



So I have decided to follow in the footsteps of these lovely ladies and send my own plea to UKTV, on the basis that if they get swamped with requests, they might get an idea of the strength of feeling (and more importantly, the size of the influx of viewing figures).

This is what I sent:

Hi there,

You may be aware that Sky Living has dropped ‘Supernatural’.

This show has a large and very loyal fanbase in the UK, and we have all been left high and dry by the fact that there is now no way to watch this very popular, long-running show in the UK without waiting over a year for the DVDs to be released.

I am writing to enquire whether there is any likelihood that you are thinking of purchasing the rights to ‘Supernatural’ from the CW.  Any network that does air this show will never be short of viewers.

Thank you for your time on reading my enquiry, I look forward to hearing from you.

I have signed a petition, but not this one because I'm not on Twitter. UKTV covers about ten different channels so it's a good place to start, but I'm going to send this to more places, just need to figure out who best to send it to, and look out contact details !

Mmm UKTV is owned by BBC - I reckon the best bet to pick up a programme like SPN would be Channel 5, looking at the kind of shows they have on Five USA etc. I'm assuming because Sky Living dropped it there's no chance it would appear on Pick because that is a Sky channel (though free). If this campaign gets it onto a free to view channel it will be most excellent!
What was the other petition you saw? Do you have a link?

I emailed Watch yesterday asking them about showing Supernatural and here is their reply
Dear Clair,
Thank you for your email.
Thank you for your programme suggestion.
We keep a log of all requests and we will pass your suggestion for Supernatural on to the relevant channel team, who will look into it. We can sometimes acquire rights to suggested programmes and love to see this type of feedback.

Sorry to hear about UKTV dropping Supernatural from their TV lineup. That really does suck. Thank goodness for the internet and downloads, or else you would all have to wait a freaking year before being able to see any of the episodes.

It absolutely sucks. I never had much time for Living TV's presentation of Supernatural, but Supernatural interrupted by half an hour of adverts and trailers for reality TV crap is still better than no Supernatural at all. :(

Even then we normally had to wait until about June before it started!

Go you! Thank you for this and the more channels we bug the better. I get we are all getting a standard reply, but if they get enough e mails, we might get a genuine response.
