Well, I had an interesting experience this morning!

A couple of reviews flashed up on my Fanfiction.net account, and so I merrily opened them, and I thought it would be fun to share with you the constructive insight that my reviewer had to share with me:

The first review read thus:

Well I don't like how you treat dean and he's awesome

Okay, whatever!

Then she (I'm guessing - apologies to 50% of the human race if I'm wrong) clearly felt she needed to expand her point - and I use the word 'point' in its broadest possible sense:

This story is not that great and dizzo your an annyoing bitch and dean is the best! And also dean is the best and I really don't care for your lame fics either! So bye trolls

So, let's just be clear here: Dean is the best? Are you sure? Just asking because you only mention it twice ...
Now, just as I was considering how she could possibly know I was an annoying bitch (see, I told you, insightful this one), a PM flashes up.  Eagerly, I opened it to find that not only was she treating me to her wonderfully diverting views on my fics but she decided to advise me that she didn't approve of a favourable review I left for another writer's fic which was a hilarious little one-shot about how 'those' dodgy cowboy pictures may have come into being ...

Shut up bitch! Your dumb and those pics were not disturbing at all they were hot and sexy! Jensen always looked hot and sexy! And your dumb for liking this dumb fic! Its crap! And dizzo your a dumb bitch bye!

Clearly My devastatingly witty new bestie is a stranger to irony as well as punctuation.  But it didn't end there:

your a crappy writer and your a dumb bitch bye!! and jensens cowboy pics were sexy and your a retared bitch

I was still leafing through my thesaurus to try to figure out what 'retared' meant, when lo and behold another message flashed up:

bye bitch! eat shit and die! your dumb bye Bye retared bitch!

Eat shit?  Really? Has she never tasted my cooking?  I do that all the time!

It was at that point that I decided that, despite the fact I was kind of enjoying the rapier wit that was being thrust in my direction, enough was enough.  She had, of course, disabled PM's but I know that with trolls as it is with petulant toddlers, it's best not to encourage them.  So a quick abuse report and a blocking later, I'm guessing I will be hearing no more from my articulate friend.

So there it is; after four years in the fandom, I've finally been trolled!
I feel like I belong :)

This same thing happened to me (sort of) the other week. In fact, from what they've said, it sounds like it might be the same person doing it, as they've used the same phrases ('bye trolls' and 'retared').

I've been in fandoms for 13 years now, and writing fanfic for 9 years, but I had never experienced any kind of trolling or rude reviews until the incident other week.

The troll first posted on my fanfiction forum, then when one of the mods questioned their post, they started posting rude reviews on my friend's story, and then sent abusive PMs to myself and each of the mods on the forum!

I was at work when it all happened, but I came home to the following PM:
Subject: your a crappy writer and your a dumb bitch bye!! and dean is the best and spn is still a great show!
Message: Bye dumb b***

So nice, isn't it?

Well I'm sorry you had to put up with this sort of crap too; it definitely sounds like the same person - that particular brand of illiteracy is hard to mistake. My little friend's name was missbosslady27.

The person who trolled us used a number of different names and profiles, but the bad spelling and grammar was the same in all of them (and was the same as you had too), so obviously all the same person :P.

It didn't really get to me - I actually found it quite amusing, especially when I somehow got dragged into it for no other reason than the forum is under my name and I had started the thread they posted in.

I did kind of write a sarky reply back to her on the forum though (couldn't resist)... the troll had dissed the topic I had started and kept going on about how hot and sexy Jensen was, so I explained that I had been distracted when I posted it because I was still recovering from being in Jensen's hot and sexy arms in Rome a few days earlier :P.

I really don't get this mindset. I don't get taking the time to read a fic that you really don't like, then trying to rake the author over the coals for your distress, as if the author forced you to read it. There are about a million interpretations of Dean out there that I don't agree with, so ... I don't read those stories. And if I get the vibe a few paragraphs in that the story isn't to my taste, I stop reading it and leave. And that's the end of it.

And what must be about a billion different SPN fanfics floating around the Internet. So why waste even one second on a fic that's rubbing you the wrong way, when there's countless others out there that could be a perfect fit for your tastes?

Unless ... she ENJOYS being pissed. If nothing in her life is making her feel good, then maybe feeling bad is the only thing she's got? Maybe she needs that rush from getting angry, because she's decided it's better than nothing.

I think a psychology student could write a master's thesis on this person.

I've been very lucky and gone 4 years without meeting a troll, so I guess it had to happen sooner or later.

I've been trolled before but not recently, if it happens again I'll try to keep your approach in mind because I tend to get angry rather than laughing at how lame these people are.

I suppose it's the risk we take when we post stories, I think you've dealt with it in the best way possible. With humour, grace and blocking the bitch off your FF account.
