I got a text from my Dad this morning.

In typical Dad style, it was very short and to the point, and just said, 'looks nice'.

This is what he sent me; it's the adoption certificate for Doughnut, framed and hung on the wall!  :D

Using my imagination keeps me sane and always has.  Pure and simple.

Whether it be art, writing or reading, I've grown up needing that creative outlet like I need air in my lungs!

So, just for something different, there are a few old pictures of mine that combine two of my loves - art and stories.  These probably date back to my late teens.  I used to do lots of pictures like these - before I got wrapped up in dapplegrey art and Spn portraits.  It would be nice to go back to doing a few things like this again one day!!   :)

This is my computer.

It's a Dell Inspiron laptop; I've had it three years, and it was the replacement for my good old Sony Vaio that I still miss!

After a shaky start when my original purchase had to be replaced after a terminal hard drive fault three weeks after I bought it, and another terminal fault that required it to be repaired after about a year later, it seems to have settled down (touch wood).

It always has a blob of Blu-tak over the webcam because I don't like them and I don't trust them.  The Blu-tak only comes off when I'm actually using the webcam.

Over the years, my false nails have worn almost all the letters off the keyboard, and these had to be replaced with stickers,  I now have a plastic film over the keyboard to protect them!

And of course, I know you're no doubt all surprised by my desktop picture ...

Tomorrow is the 75th anniversary of VE (Victory in Europe) Day.

And that got me thinking of my Grandad.  Mr D and I dug out his old wartime photo albums and have been flicking through them.  Even though it's been almost 11 years since we lost Grandad, I'm actually quite overwhemed with how emotional I am looking through them. I've been tearful for nearly an hour now, and don't think that's wearing off anytime soon!

His name was Arthur Ludlow and he was born in 1922 in a part of East London called Forest Gate.

He was a Weapons Technician/Electrical Engineer in the Royal Air Force, and was stationed in Egypt for nearly five years.  One of the great prides of his life was that he worked on Spitfires, and a few months ago, around the 10th anniversary of his death, I bought a plushie spitfire beause it reminded me of him.




I only knew him as my lovely Grandad who I could wrap round my little finger; he doted on me and I doted on him.  He talked about Egypt a lot, but not in the context of the war.  He very rarely spoke about the actual fighting.

Needless to say, I'm very, very proud of him.

As a bit of fun to keep us all bonded during quarantine, some of the departments within Head Office (where I work) have been challenging each other to make departmntal videos.

Ours (the HR Department) has just been unveiled, aand the theme of the video is staying safe and looking after your mental health during isolation (don't worry, it's not as boring as it sounds) and we based it around the Tiktok Blinding Lights challenge (you can google it and see it being done by people who can actually dance!)  We had a real laugh - and I think our colleagues are having a real laugh watching it too!

My bit starts around 2:20, but watch it all if you have time - it's a hoot!
