So, I was having a rummage through my old story library, and I came across this little gem that I wrote exactly three years ago, and it made me smile to read it.

"Jeez Dean, what's that smell – are the drains blocked again?"

"What smell?"

"The smell that … holy crap, that stink; is that you?"

"Damn cheek, that's my new cologne – 'Stallion'; the Musk of a Man'"

"Really Dean?"

"It's got pheronomes in it."

"It smells like it's got botulism in it."

"Pfft, what would you know about what attracts women?"

"Damnit Dean, that's evil, my eyes are watering."

"Well, I'm going out, princess, so don't fret. Me and my pheronomes may be some time."

"Thank God!"

…

20 minutes later

…

"Back already?"

*snort*

"What happened?"

"Shaddup."

"Well …?"

"humph ... Baby wouldn't let me open her door."

Now THAT'S a smart car. My mother's perfume was quite strong. I could still smell it several days after she had been in my car. I hated that. Of course, now I would give anything to smell even a little bit of what she wore.

That's always the case, you always miss something when it's gone, even if it's really overpowering perfume. I remember my Grandmother used to like a perfume called Charlie, and she had no sense of smell so she'd absolutely douse herself in it. I used to hate it, and I still think it's a large part of why I don't like perfume, and never wear it, even now. But having said that, I'd still love to smell it on her again.

Yea, we always miss something when its gone. After learning that lesson I am trying to appreciate every little thing more now than I used to. I just wish I had learned that lesson before both my parents were gone.
