... your Mother in Law phones you at 7.15 in the morning and her opening gambit is ...

'Did I leave my teeth on your kitchen worktop yesterday?'

O.o

Did she not think that we might have noticed a small detail like a stray set of dentures sitting in the middle of the place where we prepare our FOOD?
Did she not think that we might have put two and two together as she is currently the only person we know who has new dentures and is not getting on with them, plus the fact she comes round our house to do a bit of cleaning on Tuesdays.
And worst of all ...
If she thinks she left them there, she must - at some point - have REALLY taken her teeth out and put them on our kitchen worktop.

Typing in rubber gloves is hard *reaches for the bleach again*

I so get it. Grandpa used to waved me over and go to hand me something, which would always be a snack to open, used tissues or his teeth.

*hugs*

In the tradition of the British stiff upper lip, I'm sitting here trying not to howl with laughter. The whole conversation is just amazing, and now I'm imaging you trying to hunt down a set of rogue dentures.

I think it's the dawning horror that at some point you could've used your mum-in-law's teeth to crimp pastry, that's the stuff of nightmares1

The mind truly does boggle.
Not to mention the teeth ...

So, there are two things about this; first, the call is a 0715 in the morning. I would wish evil thoughts on anyone that calls me that early in the morning, and then, too funny about what she called about. Although the thought of dentures left on a counter, eww, for the counter, and double eww for the teeth.

And yes, I would have thought you would have seen the teeth in such an obvious location prior to the phone call. It's all just quite hilarious.

It is hilarious, but the thing is, knowing my MiL as well as we do, we just weren't shocked!

This is so funny, sorry probably not so much for you! I don't know what's worse, her loosing the dentures or having put them ON YOUR KITCHEN WORKTOP - okay the second is the worst!
