100 Days of Happiness - Day 25

As my birthday fell during the week and I had to go to work, how rude, my birthday treat was saved for today.

We headed off to the beautiful and very old village of Avebury which is unique in that it sits in the middle of a prehistoric stone circle.  It's one of my favourite places in the world; it's steeped in mystery and even better, it has the most gorgeous pub that serves food to die for!

So after a very delicious lunch, we spent a nice afternoon peacefully wandering around the circle and soaking up a little of the atmosphere.

What a lovely place. That is one of the marvels about Europe, all the centuries old historical places. Who would have thought that a bunch of stones could be so peaceful.

Oh, I wish you could visit Avebury - there is something magical, almost spiritual about Avebury. It's an amazing place - I think it brings out my 'inner pagan' :)
