Did you know Nutmeg does impressions?

He does a great potato!

Bun fun!

Has anyone seen Juniper's ears? Do I need to call the bun police and report an ear theft?

Nutmeg is really looking forward to his bedtime snack - we really did name that little nutter well!

Just chilling and watching some TV last night, and suddenly, we had these two little sentinels looking over us:

Remind you of anything?

Next time someone says to you 'rabbits are boring', do me a favour and laugh in their face! 😂

Here's an example of how boring my two little herberts are.

Here's their hutch after Juniper had decided to go on an all-day wreck-athon in and around it! 😮

Juniper, you absolute moo-bag!

Some people who who don't know rabbits, think they're boring and dumb, or at best, sweet and harmless.

No.  The fact is they're little fluffy arseholes.  Self-absorbed, defiant little turdburgers of the highest order.  And perversely, that's why rabbit owners love them.

It's pathetic really, sort of like a cute, fuzzy Stockholm syndrome!

Now my Facebook algorithm has worked out that I post a bit about bunnies, and this link turned up on my Fb feed this morning, and made me cry with laughter - mainly because I can relate to quite a few of these!!

50 MEMES AND JOKES ABOUT BUNNIES THAT SHOW THEY'RE NOT AS SWEET AND INNOCENT AS THEY LOOK...

It just sums up the following joke that bunny owners all agree on:

This is the face we get when we walk into the room without snacks..

It's international Rabbit Day and I'm here to mark the day by giving thanks for the joy that these two little herberts have brought into my life!
🐰🐰
International Rabbit Day exists to raise awareness of these little-understood, underappreciated and often abused little bundles of fun. I hope one day there won't be a need for it, but until then - here's their website!

Grass!

Now that the hot weather is over and the front lawn is green again (as opposed to a pathetic, shrivelled brown) we took some clippings to treat the buns while they were out and about in the back garden.

They do enjoy their grass!

Someone's really enjoying some nice fresh grass.
Until we interrupted her... check out that disapproving look!!!

When I went away, practically my last words to Mr D were about the bunnies, and I said; "don't stuff them full of banana.."

Over the course of the time I was at JIB, he sent me these photos...

*sigh*

Banan Buns

Aug. 16th, 2022 09:55 pm

So, my buns love bananas.  Their table manners aren't great at the best of times, but throw a nana into the mix and they turn into ravening velociraptors.
Observe:

It is a cute fact of bunny life that when they are experiencing joy verging on ecstacy (for instance, when they are stuffing bananas into their faces) their bums twitch.  No-one knows why, it's just one of those adorable mysteries of life - as Nutmeg ably demonstrates.

These two videos are from the Youtube channel that I have set up for these two little ratbags (yes, I'm hopelessly obsessed - hadn't you guessed that already?)  If you would like to subscribe to their channel, Crazy Rabbit Lady, they would be very happy to see you there! :)

Anyone would think Nutmeg is the most ill-treated bunny on earth - the faces that grumpy little ratbag can make!  I think we have to accept that he has the bun equivalent of a resting bitch face!!

I took a photo of him the other day with a little friend showing how it should be done   XD

On the plus side, he's all grown up and chunky now!

So, I'm a little bit late posting this, what with everything else that's been going on of late, but July 4th marked one year since those two fluffy little ratbags entered my life, turned my world upside down and stole my heart!

We've been on such a journey with them during that year.  Winning their trust, tweaking their living arrangements, tweaking OUR living arrangements, and just generally settling into the bun Mum and Dad life with enthusiasm, joy, and lots of laughter (plus a few swears for good measure)!

Here are two photos one year apart to show just how those buns have grown and blossomed in to the two walloping great chonkers that we love so much!

I give you:

Juniper (aka JuJu, Madam, and LFB (Little Fat Baggage))

Nutmeg (aka NutNut, Crazyboy and Slinky Malinki)

One year on!

Well, I think we've identified the buns' favourite fruit. They can't have banana every day because it's too sugary, but a couple of times a week is ok.

And Mr D insists on being the banana machine as he working hard on his nefarious plan to make those little furry ratbags love him more than me!!!

I think it's fair to say they love bananas more than either of us!

The buns went to the vets on Friday for their shots and their check up, so I was persona non grata for a couple of hours when they got back!

I'm delighted to say there were no ill effects from the shots and they both got a clean bill of health. Her weight has been confirmed at 2.6 kilos and his at 2.3 kilos, which doesn't sound much, but when you're carrying a pet carrier with these two inside it across the car park to the vets, it felt like I was carrying an elephant!

Anyway, it's been a while since I posted any bun pictures, and they've had a busy weekend playing and being spoiled, so why not!

Make yourself comfortable, why don't you?

Coming through...

So, it's been a delightful weekend. Because of the Jubilee, we've had two public holidays which were very welcome as far as I was concerned. Our weekend has been a mixture of relaxing and busy. It started off on a bad note on Thursday when I got up and saw that Nutmeg obviously wasn't himself. He was lethargic and showed absolutely no interest in his breakfast.

I kept an eye on him for an hour or so, and could see he was just lying around but kept shifting his position as if he was in pain and couldn't get comfortable. So I decided there and then to get him to a vet, as he was displaying some - although not all - of the classic signs of GI stasis (which is gut blockage or immobility) which can be very rapidly fatal in rabbits.

So, I was a a bit of a loose end this evening, and this happened...

It's not the best picture I've ever done because I only spent two and a half hours on it, but I'm sure it won't be the last I do of them!

Bun fun!

The buns came out for a run in the garden yesterday.

When a bunny jumps in the air it's called a binky and binkies are a sign of high spirits in bunnies. I think it's fair to say my two we enjoying themselves yesterday!

I've finally figured out how to embed videos into Dreamwidth thanks to great advice from [personal profile] spiralicious
