So, it's been a delightful weekend. Because of the Jubilee, we've had two public holidays which were very welcome as far as I was concerned. Our weekend has been a mixture of relaxing and busy. It started off on a bad note on Thursday when I got up and saw that Nutmeg obviously wasn't himself. He was lethargic and showed absolutely no interest in his breakfast.

I kept an eye on him for an hour or so, and could see he was just lying around but kept shifting his position as if he was in pain and couldn't get comfortable. So I decided there and then to get him to a vet, as he was displaying some - although not all - of the classic signs of GI stasis (which is gut blockage or immobility) which can be very rapidly fatal in rabbits.

It took about an hour of Mr D and I ringing around all the local vets emergency lines to find an on call vet that was working the public holiday, and we eventually got him to an vet in Guildford, about fifteen miles away.

The vet checked him over and was satisfied that he was having a gut-related issue, although he could hear bowel sounds, so it wasn't a complete blockage, so he gave him a shot to get things moving again, and a painkilling shot.

An hour, and £400 later, (thank god for pet insurance), we got home, and within a couple of hours Nutmeg was eating some carrot tops and seemed to be getting back to normal.

Then I finally felt like I could get on with enjoying the weekend at last!

We figured that Nutmeg wanted to rest up and didn't want us clucking over him all the time, so we headed out to grab a coffee and a cake, then spent the afternoon sitting in the garden with nibbles and wine, and both rabbits having the best life and bouncing round like Nutmeg, the little shit, hadn't just cost me over half a week's wages!

On Friday, I was delighted that both bunnies dived into their breakfast as normal, so it looked like Nutmeg's little wobble was all over. It was another relaxing day, which ended up with a barbecue with neighbours in the afternoon. Our neighbours are relatively new, they moved in in January, after the previous occupant of the house (who was the only neighbour we'd ever known in that house) passed away about a year previously, and it really looks like we've hit the jackpot. It's always a nervous time when you get new neighbours, because there's always the possibility that they could turn out to be total arseholes. However, these people seem like a really nice couple, similar age to us, two grown up children who live away, and we seem to be getting along famously.

In the evening, it was time to watch The Boys. I won't say anything because of spoilers, but I already adore Soldier Boy. That is to say, I think he's a complete dick, and I can't WAIT to see what else Jensen is going to do with him!

On Saturday, the festivities started, and Mr D and I headed into Bagshot for the local street party, and a great fun afternoon was had!

So today has just been a 'chill out at home and try to focus on my Summergen fic while trying (and failing) not to be distracted by all the masses of Soldier Boy and Jensen content that's all over social media' day.

So all in all, yup, I could get to like these Jubilees!
