Challenge #12

Last year was a very challenging year for me, both professionally and personally.  I won’t bore you with the details, but in trying to do my best for everything and everyone, I ended up having a mental breakdown midway through the year.

Unfortunately it looks like this year is not going to be a lot better.  My dad’s health is declining again, and there’s uncertainty at my job, but if I have learned one thing from last year, it’s to take better care of myself, and put my needs first occasionally.

So that’s it.  That’s my goal. 

To not put myself under pressure, to take care of myself.  Whatever 2023 throws at me, I don’t want to end up back where I was last summer.

First rule of first aid; take care of yourself before you take care of anyone else.  I forgot that fundamental rule least year.  I won’t make that mistake again.

Thank you for taking care of yourself. Remember to decline invitations to things you don't have energy for, and to cook and eat everyone who tries to pressure you into taking care of them before yourself!

I'm so sorry about the tough time. It is definitely important to put yourself first though and it is good that you are making it a priority.

It's not something that comes naturally or easily to me, but I can't have another year like last year, so I'm trying hard.
