Dizzo update...

Well, it's been a funny old few weeks. Although the start of this year hasn't been anywhere near as horrible as the start of 2022 thankfully, it hasn't exactly covered itself with glory, but anyhow - there has been good with the not so good!
Car
So, my car broke down on 28th November. It turned our to be a terminal fault with the gearbox. I learned through this whole process, that most generalist garages won't touch automatic gearboxes (bloody typical, right?) so I spent two weeks looking for the right garage, and I eventually found a gearbox specialist garage about thirty miles from home. It turned out my car needed a complete gearbox rebuild, at a cost of £1,900. When they told me this, and after I'd picked myself up off the floor, Mr Dizzo and I set out to figure out how we were going to pay for it. Even if we maxed out our credit card, we were still falling £700 short. In the end, I phoned my parents to ask if we could have our Christmas money early so we could get an extra couple of hundred pounds in the coffers. Dad asked what I wanted it for and when I explained about the car, he just said, 'I'll pay it.'
I told him I couldn't possibly expect him to do that, and even suggested we go halves and he said 'call it a thank you. You and that car did me a lot of favours last year.' After I got off the phone, I walked back into the living room bawling my eyes out, and Mr Dizzo thought some major disaster had happened!
Anyway, a month later, my car is finally fixed and is due to come home tomorrow. It can't come soon enough. First world problems I know, but I am rubbish at not being mobile and having to rely on public transport!
Eyes
This is where the less-than-good news comes in. I've been feeling for a while that sometthing isn't quite right with my right eye. So I went for a routine eye test a couple of weeks ago, and they confirmed my fears. I have a 'macular hole' in my right eye. It's a tiny hole in the inside lining of the back of the eyeball, and it affects my focus in that eye. Everything in a round spot in my central viison of that eye is distorted and twisted, a bit like looking though one of those fancy glass windows. I hadn't really noticed it too much before because my left eye is fine, and is doing all the work. However, now If I cover my left eye, I can't read a page of text on paper or on a screen any more.
I need to have this monitored on an ongoing basis at hospital and I'm waiting for my first appointment. It'll be interesting to see if there's anything they can do surgery-wise, or whether I need to just live with this - and hope I don't get a matching set in my left eye!
Bunnies
They're still gorgeous, thoroughly spoilt, and providing endless entertainment. And I love them so much it hurts. It's all-consuming, and I know there is nothing I wouldn't do to keep those little ratbags safe, happy and well.

Mr D and I ordered their birthday gift Just after Christmas, it's custom made for rabbits and is all kinds of adorable. Their birthday is the 8th March and this thing will take about six weeks to make so we should get it just in time! It's a play place for them to hide and jump and nibble. And it is, of course, a gift for them and not for us...

And that's about it for my world right now!
