I'm so delighted Snowflake challenge is back!  

So fandom-wise, I'm still active in the Supernatural fandom although my participation has dropped off a little.  That's mainly as a result of Covid wiping out two years worth of conventions, plus the general fandom participation dwindling, which means reduced readership, less challenges being run etc.  This year I reluctantly closed down spn_bigpretzel community, which had been running ten years, due to lack of engagement.  I’m still writing some Supernatural fanfic, although it’s not flowing so freely now, and I'm still doing a fair bit of Supernatural fan art.  Despite all that Dean Winchester still is, and always will be, the fictional love of my life!

I think some of the toxicity that has crept into the Supernatural fandom since the series end has soured the experience a little for me, but I am trying to distance myself from that sort of nonsense so that I can continue to enjoy my fandom experience.

I have been following Jared and Jensen in all their new projects, and although Walker unfortunately hasn't captured my imagination, I absolutely adored Soldier boy and the Boys.  I went to a Boys convention in April and am booked into another one this year.  I’ve also done a bit of Boys fan art.  I don’t however, see myself as being active in the Boys fandom, not yet at least. 

My fanfiction is all housed at Fanfiction.net and AO3.

My current fandom home is still Livejournal with a back-up account at Dreamwidth, so come visit, everyone's welcome :)

I do miss spn_bigpretzel, it was a such a fun place for challenges, but I rarely found myself visiting Livejournal anymore. Plus, I found some new fandoms and I just don't participate in SPN fandom very much anymore, although I do still read the occasional fic, or write one if I am in the mood.

I think this was always going to happen once the show ended.
Letting go of Spn_bigpretzel was terribly sad, but I'm just so happy and proud of all the pleasure it provided during the ten years it ran.

Sorry to hear about the negativity in the Supernatural fandom, I have some fond memories of its early days!

Thankfully I have never been directly involved in any of the negativity, but it's sad to see how the fandom has splintered since the end of the show.
It is beyond my comprehension why, in some sections of fandom, loving one character or ship, means you have to hate anyone else. It's sad and pathetic.

I miss the Pretzel!!!!!!!!!!! :( And I also HATE to hear that toxicity has even hit SPN now and am very sorry you had ANY negative experiences in this wonderful fandom! :(

Thank you. Closing down Spn_BigPretzel was one of the most difficult decisions I'd ever made. I was very sad to do it, but I'm proud of all the pleasure it brought people during the ten year it operated.

It is indeed, but it ALWAYS happens, it seems...

And not just in fandom, tbh. Just take a look around you and I'm sure you'll see other people divided on things where they feel they absolutely cannot support one if they support another.

Post Supernatural ending has been a weird time in fandom for sure. Hopefully navigating the fandom waters will get smoother.
