So, unless you've been living on Neptune for the last few weeks, you'll know that there's a little celebration going on in the UK this week with the Queen's platinum jubilee. We've got a two day public holiday coming up at the back end of this week and towns and villages all over the place are organising street parties, festiivals and all manner of other celebrations.
Almost of the people I know are generally in a bit of a party mood this week and, hell, with all the abject shit that's going on in the world right now, do we ever deserve a bloody party or what?
I decided to kick things off by getting my jubilee nails done this weekend:

My workplace is always in the mood for a party, so Jubilee celebrations are the order of the day!
My contibution to our celebrations was a '1952 Tuck Shop'. I'm not sure if a 'tuck shop' is a thing otside of the UK but basically it's a small retailer, often staffed by volunteers that provides cheap sweets, drinks and snacks. They're most often assocaited with schools and colleges.
On Saturday, I went to an old-fashioned sweet shop in the nearby town of Camberley, and tasked the owner to provide me with a selecton of sweets that would have been around in the early '50's, and he did me proud!
I ended up with, among others, aniseed balls, mint imperials, rhubard and custards, mint humbugs, jelly babies, cream toffees, liquorice toffees, coconut mushrooms, sherbert pips, pear drops, lemon sherberts, cough drops, dolly mixtures and wine gums, and took these to work today, along with some equally historic drinks - cloudy lemonade, cream soda and Vimto.
I'm thrilled to say that the tuck shop was well received!

And, it looks like the party atmosphere is not going anywhere soon ...

Looking forward to the weekend - I always enjoy a good street party. Now Mr Sunshine has just got to do his bit!
