Happy Post: So, that was Darklight 4 con

Darklight 4 was supposed to take place in Summer 2020, but for reasons which I don't need to bore you with, has been postponed and rearranged multiple times. Finally... FINALLY! It happened this weekend in Paris, at the Hilton Charles de Gaulle airport, and it really didn't disappoint!
There was a fabulous air of fun and positivity around the whole event. Emotions were running high, and I don't mind admitting that I shed a few tears two or three times at the event. But they were happy tears!
My trip to Paris was my first flight for three years, and it just felt so good to be on a plane again.
I met my friend, Wendy, at the Hotel. I know Wendy from JIB. She's from Belgium, and we've been JIB roomies (not including the whole Covid fiasco), for about six years. Wendy introduced me to Darklight Con, and I'm so glad she did!
There was a great selection of guests, and many of the guests had no problem with distancing or touching, so hugs (and other poses) were back on the menu, and that was just awesome!

Okay, I have a soft spot for Adam Fergus - so sue me!!! :)

There were a handful of guests who had requested distancing measures for reasons we weren't party to, and their management companies had requested plexiglass screens, which the Darklight organiser wasn't keen on. He came up with the most amazing compromise.
The organisers created an awesome tableau in which distanced photos could take place that were interesting and fun. It was such a fantastic idea and the guests loved it as much as we did. What do you think?

I was trying to make my mind up, here, whether I should look at Misha or at the camera... and the photographer caught me halfway between making my mind up!

*hums Scooby Doo theme tune*

I ADORE my Rob picture!
During the weekend, I had a meet and greet with Adam. It was a great session because there were only six people in it, so it was very intimate, and everyone could contribute. Adam was talking about how he loved the inclusivity of the Spn Fandom so I told him about
jj1564 and how, despite her illness and the disadvantages it brought her, she loved the Fandom and was so very loved by it. I told him all about her Spn-themed funeral, and he got quite choked up about it. He stated his regret that he never met her, and passed on his deepest respects to her family and friends.
Saturday was a busy, busy day. On Sunday, however, I found I had a little downtime while Wendy was off doing other stuff, so I took myself off to the hotel bar for an hour and had a snack. A very, very French snack!

As well as the photos there was lots of autograph activity, and I took my usual selection of arty stuff along for signing:
The first two were pages from my Supernatural colouring book

I took a pastel portrait of Lucifer which was signed by Mark Pellegrino

and a signing sheet collage of my artworks. I'm not entirely sure what's wrong with the middle of the page... ???

And of course, over the course of the weekend, Wendy and I had to mark the occasion with the occasional selfie!
There were nice smiley selfies...

Excited pre-convention selfies...

And one, very, very silly selfie!

And so ended a wonderful weekend of convention fun, concerts, good food, good wine and good company
Merci beaucoup Paris... I'll see you again soon!
