This is not so much something I’ve created as something I’m in the process of creating.

I always like to have a little craft project on the go over the Christmas break because it’s the only time of the year when I get a good few days’ free time to do something like that. I decided this year to attempt my very first cross-stitch. It’s taken me longer than I thought, so I’m still only about halfway through it but I’m really enjoying trying something new and different.

It’s not fandomish; I chose the subject matter is because my husband loves puffins. So when it’s complete we’re going to frame it and put it on the wall in his 'man cave' with all his other puffin pics.

Oh, that is really cool! I'd like to get myself a hobby where I get to hold something physical at the end, rather than just words on a screen... I tried crochet a few times but my hands kinda locked up and stayed like claws for ages afterwards!! I wonder if cross-stitching is also tough on the hands? This is such a cool project and it looks so neat, I wouldn't have guessed it's a first! Good luck with finishing!!

Well done from trying crochet, that's something I've never tried. Rather than being hard on the hands, cross stitch is more hard on the eyes. I've had to purchase an illumintated magnifier to hang round my neck because the light in my living room isn't bright enough for me to see the tiny stiches properly!
