This is London's latest statue; a 5 metre high blue cockerel said to symbolise strength and regeneration.

The irony is that Trafalgar Square was built to celebrate Nelson's victory against Napoleon's navy at Trafalgar in 1805. Nelson's column in the middle of the square is one of London's most famous landmarks.

So, here we are celebrating one of England's most famous and important victories over French invaders, and what's the French national emblem?

A blue cockerel!

Well, didn't we always think that the french were a little cuckoo anyway. Ha! Ha! Ha! (Pun intended) (And no insult meant to any french fans)

That is intriguing that the celebration of such an important battle in your history is celebrated with a blue cockerel. ;D
