Okay, I snagged this fromseptembers_coda because I can't resist a memey thingummybob, and this one looks like lots of fun!

Put a number in the comments and I’ll answer accordingly. The mission for those of us who answer the questions, should we accept it, is to stay positive about our writing and ourselves, but to also be fair about our shortcomings.

1. Of the fic you’ve written, of which are you most proud?
2. Favorite tense
3. Favorite POV
4. What are some themes you love writing about?
5. What inspires you to write?
6. Thoughts on critique
7. Create a character on the spot... NOW!
8. Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?
9. A passage from a WIP
10. What are your strengths in writing?
11. What are your weaknesses in writing?
12. Anything else that you want to know... (otherwise known as Fill in the Blank)

Meanwhile ...

Hey there hunny, great t hear from you!

You asked, of which fic and I most proud?

Okay, this is a good question and having given it some thought, I’ve decided to narrow it down to two; a multi-chapter fic and a drabble.

The Multi-Chapter fic is called Blood Brothers and in it the boys get zonked back in time by a cursed museum artefact into – well, a whole heap of trouble - leaving Bobby back here desperately trying to work out what became of them and how to help them. I’m proud of it because in it I wrote several very intense fighting scenes which weren’t just the usual spats Dean gets himself into, but staged fights which I had to visualise and choreograph as I wrote them. Even if I say it myself, I’m really pleased with how they turned out!

Link to story and banner in case you wanted to take a look: http://dizzojay.livejournal.com/74636.html

The drabble is called ‘Bard Day at Black Rock’.

I love Shakespeare and I couldn’t resist combining his work with a little Supernatural magic. This bloody drabble took me about six hours on and off to compose, and I can’t say the language is grammatically perfect for the Elizabethan era, but, interspersed with the boys’ desperate attempts to speak normally, I think it works!

This is it: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/8112972/1/EO-Challenge-Bard-Day-at-Black-Rock

I think I can safely say I’m proud of both these fics!

Thanks for playing x

Oh man, your Bard Day is very humorous. Thanks for the chuckle.

And I haven't seen your Blood Brothers fic. I have book marked it and will have to read soon. In fact, I may just read that as soon as I am done with the fic I am currently reading. Looks good.

Glad you enjoyed the drabble, I had so much fun writing it. I really hope you enjoy Blood Brothers - I'd love to hear what you think. Oh, by the way, just for the record, it's gen, not slash.

I don't read Slash, so the fact that this story is Gen works for me.

Hey there hun x

Yes, indeed, it takes a special kind of guy to look smoking hot with a Hello Kitty Balloon on his head!

You asked me to answer No. 8 which is 'Is there a character you love writing for the most? The least? Why?'

Okay … so my favourite character to write will come as no surprise – Dean!

It’s probably an extension of the fact that I love him to bits and so watch him closerthan anyone else, but I feel as if I can get into his headspace so much easier than, say, Sam, who is sometimes a bit of a closed book.

Dean’s dialogue and his mannerisms just flow when I write him. Ultimately, I think I love writing his character because he says the things I’d LOVE to say to some people and I’m just too spineless.

My least favourite character, and I know this is a contentious one, is older John. In fact, I’ve never even written him in a story, nor do I have any particular impulsion to.

I don’t ‘hate’ John (in fact I think young John is lovely, both in character and looks) but from the time older John first appeared in Season 1, instantly talking down to the boys as if they were mindless, I’m afraid I took an immediate dislike to him. I particularly hated the way Dean just physically diminished in his presence (brilliant acting by Jensen btw), and was just one more reason why I couldn’t warm up to him.

I know John loved the boys in his own way, and I know made the ultimate sacrifice for Dean and that was an incredibly noble thing to do, but he left them broken, and by the time he did open up and finally tell Dean he was proud of him, the damage was long since done.

Older John simply doesn’t inspire me and I know if I wrote him into one of my stories, however hard I tried to avoid it, he would come across harsh and probably not very likeable, so I find it best to avoid him as a character.

Hey there, great to hear from you!

You asked me to answer number 9 which is 'A passage from a WIP'.

Okay, here is the opening paragraph from my current multi-chapter story, ‘The Man in the Mirror’:

'It was 2.36 in the morning when Sam awoke, to the rumble of his cellphone vibrating on the nightstand. Groping blearily through the dark he picked up the phone and fumbled clumsily with the touch screen, eventually answering the call.

"What?" he croaked groggily into the tiny device.

It was 2.37 in the morning when Sam really wished he hadn't woken up ...'

Hey there, thanks for playing!

You asked me to answer no. 3 which is 'Favourite POV'.

Favourite POV is a toughie because I don’t really think I have a favourite. I often write my stories (particularly the multi-chapter ones) from a narrative POV; Dean said, Sam did this … etc, but try to mingle it with snippets of other POVs too, such as the brothers or a third party.

It’s nice sometimes to write from a particular character’s point of view, to try to get inside their head; Crowley’s fun to do that with, and the Impala too – inanimate objects (is she inanimate or is that blasphemous?) are fun to write because they have no voice, therefore their POV is pretty much a blank canvas. I’ve written POVs for the amulet and Dean’s memory foam mattress.

I enjoy writing outsider POV, although I am aware that not everyone likes reading them, because you can describe a situation from an unfamiliar standpoint. I wrote one recently from the POV of an unfortunate alien who got tangled up with the brothers, and lived to regret it. I was pleasantly surprised because it seemed to go down very well!

Hey there x

You asked me to answer No. 5, 'What inspires you to write?'

What inspires me to write? Have you got a free year or two???

Put very simply, I love to write. When I was at school, my best subjects by a mile were Art and English. I’ve always been a very creative person and I can’t remember how many school reports I brought home that said I was a dreamer, and they were right.

My parents said I would grow out of it; they were most definitely wrong, bless them!

I love art, and I use pastels and pencils to create colours and shapes and textures on a piece of paper; to me words are just another medium for an artist to use. They also create colour, shapes and texture.

While art was always my primary love, when I left school, I decided I didn’t want to give up writing so I took a home study course with the Writer’s Bureau and that was really useful; I even got a couple of articles published in magazines as a result of it, but ultimately (this was long before the days of the internet), getting something published was a long, demoralising process, which very rarely came to anything and so I would be writing stories for no-one to read. My husband would glance over them and nod encouringly and tell me they were great, but gradually my interest dwindled to the degree that I just didn’t write creatively for very many years.

Then at Christmas 2009 I discovered Supernatural, and about six weeks later I discovered Supernatural fanfiction. Suddenly I had a hyperactive muse and an awesome global audience and I’ve never looked back!

I haven’t given up on the possibility of writing my own original novel and publishing it, now thanks to Amazon self-publishing and those sorts of platforms, publishing your work is much more accessible, but at the moment with a full time job and my art which is now is a paying business, the writing will have to remain, for the time being, a much loved hobby!

Hope that answers your question x

Yep, great answer. I always admire those who can write. I can't creatively write at all, and given my love and penchant for reading, I am very envious of those who can pen some wonderful stories. I even have a hard time writing letters and such for work. I would much rather read and enjoy someone else's creativity.

Thank goodness for the internet and the accessibility that that gave you to share your creative muse with others. We are all happier because of it. Keep it up, and maybe someday you will get your novel published. Good luck!

Hey there, thanks for playing x

You asked me to answer no. 6; 'Thoughts on critique'

How do I take criticism? That’s a good question. I think I’m reasonably level-headed about concrit, and always try to look upon it that person is trying to help me, and I have received criticism in the past which I’ve found very useful.

What I don’t particularly like is criticism that’s not helpful; a perfect example is a review posted anonymously to one of my stories a while back (as it was anonymous, I couldn’t respond to ask for more specific information). As a Brit writing American dialogue, I do make the occasional slip up. Thankfully these are getting rarer thanks to my lovely readers helping me out with a bit of language coaching where needed, but this one review said ‘an American person wouldn’t say that.’ And that's all it said!

Okay, fine – I'm not going to know these things unless someone tells me, but what WOULD an American person say instead? Don’t leave me high and dry! That sort of criticism is about as much good as no good at all, and just frustrates me.

I’ve been very lucky in all the time that I’ve been writing fanfiction, I’ve never encountered trolls or flamers, because I know I would probably take that sort of abuse to heart (even though I know that’s only why they’re doing it.

Deep down beneath all the naked Dean bashing, I'm quite a sensitive soul really! :)

Okay, number 2 is 'Favourite Tense'

I guess I would have to say past tense because that's probably what 95% of my fic is written in. In past tense there are the different variants such as past perfect, progressive and past whatever-the-hell-else, and I probably flit between all of them at various times. An OCD Grammarian could probably pull my use of past tense variables apart if they really looked hard enough!

Present tense is fun to use too, but I've only ever managed to keep that going for the length of a drabble or a small section of a longer story.
