This is another case of attraction to the character rather than the actor...

I remember when I saw Lord of the Rings fo the first time, and being absolutely fascinated by Legolas:

My attraction to Legolas wasn't exactly physical, it was more aesthetic.  I'd honestly never seen such a beautiful, elegant male character before.  I didn't want to have sexytimes wth Legolas, I just wanted to stand him in the corner and look at him forever!  There was even a time when I thought that Legolas was a partly CG character because I didn't believe that he could possibly be fully human.

It's odd, because 'pretty' isn't normally my thing when men are concerned, but I was absolutely transfixed by Legolas from the moment he first appeared on the screen at the Council of Elrond in the Fellowship of the Ring.

However, when I first saw Orlando Bloom in his 'natural' state, I was like "yeah, he's a decent looking guy, but..."

It must be the long, blond hair and pointy ears!

I once watched one of the LOTR films on my laptop and there's a scene with a closeup of Legolas and he's only got one blue contact in, the other eye is brown. I hadn't realised until then that Orlando's eyes weren't blue!

There were a couple of scenes like that in the films weren't there. Legolas' eye colour switched a few times!

Legolas is also badass and extremely competent....much like another pretty male character that you're rather taken with! Who is also too perfect to be human. Maybe closer to your type than you realised! :D

I also found Legolas extremely aesthetically pleasing...but like you, I just enjoyed looking at him, so this one totally resonated! :)

I think my crush on Legolas goes back to the books. Certainly to the Bakshi animation. There's always been something aetherial about him. But Jackson added a dash of cool. I loved his heat-seeking arrows that shot round corners :P And his physical stunts that defied physics! :D

How could I forget?!!! :D

In the appendices, they showed Orlando Bloom reacting when the FX team first showed him what the scene was going to look like. He was super chuffed they were going to make him look so cool! :D

I felt the same way about Legolas. There was just something so beautiful about the elves. And Legolas really depicted them all in their elegance, bravery, comaraderie, He really enchanted me. I was so surprised when I finally saw Orlando with his jet black hair.

Orlando looks so different with his short dark hair. Unfortunately, Legolas set the standard too high!!

Legolas did set a high standard when it came to elves. There was another elf that we saw (Haldir), his part was a little bigger in the extended version of the first movie. But in the second one he is the one that is the leader of the elves that arrive at Helm's Deep to help out Theoden in their fight against the Orcs. He also had this elegance about him that really caught my eye. I was sad when he was eventually killed. I was hoping he would be one that would survive the battle.

That's the beauty of fiction isn't it, I think we all wanted to have sexy times with Aragorn, but can you imagine in real life how much he would stink!!?? XD

This is a very good point, and it makes me grateful that movies don't have realistic smells!

Yup I can agree with that! He's just so pretty, I think you'd be frightened to dirty him up with sexytimes LOL!
