I'm just an unsociable git!

So, tomorrow marks the end of our first week of working from home.

Dare I say, it seems to be going very well. I've been productive, and got a great little workplace set up on my dining table.

My boss is great, she's setting up check in calls on MS Teams to make sure we're all ok, and is very intent on protecting us in terms of mental health due to working alone. 

One thing she mentioned today was that she and our Head of HR link up on Facetime all day.  She said 'we don't necessarily talk, it's just like having someone else in the room, so you feel like you have company, and then we can talk whenever we need to'.  She suggested that I, and the payroll co-ordinator, Karen, do this, so that we can enjoy having the company.

In the end, I thanked her for her concern, but I'm actualy very comfortable with my own company.  I've spent four days working alone at home this week, and loved every minute of it.  I have my personal laptop in the back ground playing cheesy music videos, and that's all  the company I need.

Karen and I hook up on Teams or on the phone when we need to, but otherwise, it's just me, my laptop and a bit of 80's cheese, and I'm in heaven!

My inner introvert is having a party at the moment.  I guess I'm just an unsociable git!!  XD

Nothing wrong with being an unsociable git at times! If I was still working, I'd be very happy to work alone at home, too. It's nice that your boss is so caring , though and that you have Karen to chat to when you need.

Yes, it's really good at the moment; plus I'm not burning any petrol at the moment, either!

We introverts are not unsociable gits, we are just preferential in our sociability. Sometimes our own company is the best company around. We don't make each other mad or angry, we agree with most everything and we like being around each other. :)

sounds like good time. I wish I could work from home. Sadly, we are not set up that way so I have to go into work. But, we are small and fairly well isolated, so staying okay for now.

That's the best description of enjoying your own company I've ever read!

I'm very lucky in that respect. Everyone in my office works fro laptops, and we've got a fairly good IT system so everything seems to work, even when we're away from the office!

Thanks. I spend a lot of time with me, myself & I. I enjoy the company of others, but given that I am alone, outside of work, a majority of my time, I really am my own best company.

You are very lucky you have that capability. I would love to be able to work from home, but can't. Still, I feel fairly safe at work. We have a small crew. I am alone alot of the time, have my own office so I can really control ins and outs and cleaning. After work I go directly home, so not a lot of interaction.
