26th December - Talk about Politics or current events this year

I'm not a terribly political animal.  Generally, I find politics dull, and I'm very cynical about politics and politicians of any flavur.  However I'm not deluded enough to think that I can live my life separate from politics.  I know that in the past, many amazing men and women have given up their lives and their liberty to win my right to vote, and so I will always vote.  It just makes me sad that the self-serving shower of shit that infests Westminster at the moment is an insult to those great peoples' memory.

With the orange ogre over in the USA and the chaos and threat of Brexit here in the UK politics is very depressing at the moment, and it's not something I want to dwell on, especially not here in my journal which is normally my happy place!




27th December - Three Goals for next year

This year was a year of many goals, most of which I fulfilled, but there were two I didn't.
One was to do my fun run, and the other was to lose a bit of weight and get myself a bit fitter.  These are both goals that go hand in hand, and they're going to be a focus next year.
For a third goal, I'm going to be doing some studying for work next year, a foundation degree, and that's the most studying I've done for a very long time, so that's a big goal to work towards.




December 28th - Your Plans for New Years Eve

I have no plans at all - just want to see in the new year with Mr D, a bottle of wine and a good movie or something like that!




December 29th - Talk about things you are excited for next year

Jus in Bello and Crossroads Supernatural conventions are all booked up for next year.  Once again I get to meet our amazing boys, plus my scrumptious British Men of Letters, not to mention catching up with my gorgeous fandom buddies.  That's always a cause for excitement.  I'm sure there will be other reasons to be excited along the way; art shows, fandom socials and challenges, day trips and holidays and all sorts of other fun and frolics, but for now, I'm just excited to see what 2019 has in store!

I didn't know about your foundation degree - what's that entail? Sounds interesting!

I've got some stuff going on in work at the moment - good stuff! I haven't said anything publically yet because I don't have any signed paperwork/job description to confirm it yet, but I was told by the HRD (at the Christmas party) that it had all been signed off and agreed by the executive board). I'm taking on a new role in the new year, a bit of a promotion , and a bit of a career shift away from payroll. It's a completely new job, and it's basically looking after all our reward, compensation and benefits. So more of a strategic role than a day-to-day operational role.
The qualification is a level five diploma in Reward Management.
So, yeah, exciting times!
