In light of recent 'bad idea' events, here's a little drabble I wrote about two years ago...

A LOSING BATTLE

There are some battles that simply can't be won.  Sam's got a great idea, but Dean doesn't seem to share his enthusiasm.

"Are you insane?"

"No, I don't think so Dean."

"A Marathon? Why the hell would I want to run twenty-six miles when I've got a perfectly good car parked outside?"

"Think of the amazing sense of achievement."

"I'm thinking of the blisters."

"Alright then, well think of the challenge."

"What? Killing monsters, dicing with death and restoring the balance of Earth, Heaven and Hell not enough of a challenge for you?"

"Well, yeah, I mean, no, but this would be a challenge that would be really good for our health."

"Yeah, because jogger's nipple is so zen."

"Well, what about the thrill of the race?"

"Oh yeah, while you're dripping sweat and stinking like a Turkish wrestler's jockstrap."

"Testing your mind and body to the absolute limit."

"Hauling my mind and body, complete with blisters and jogger's nipples, through miles of mud and shit you mean."

"Dean, don't you ever want to step outside your comfort zone?"

Sam, you have no goddamn idea. Don't talk to me about stepping outside my comfort zone."

"Oh yeah?"

"Yeah. I couldn't get cherry pie today, so I gotta sit here and eat pumpkin pie instead. How far outside my comfort zone do you want?"
