Au revoir forties ...

So, as I enter my last three hours as a forty-something year old woman, I find myself in a bit of a reflective mood.
I'm not bothered about hitting the big 5-0, it doesn't scare me or intimidate me, but it just seems odd to leave my forties behind. Because the forties was the decade in which I discovered fandom, and in doing so, I discovered myself.
So every episode of Supernatural I've ever watched, every fanfic I've ever written, every piece of fan art I've produced, every one of you amazing fandom friends I've made, every convention I've attended; it all happened in my forties.
In doing so, it made me fiercely proud of my inner geek. The aspect of me that I'd kept tamped down and buried for so long, now she's out - loud and proud - and she isn't ever going back.
My forties gave me so many of the best times of my life.
So yes, I'm a little bit sad about moving on and leavng the forties behind but, at the same time, I'm excited for what the next stage of my life is going to bring!
And whilst I'm on the subject of my inner geek, here are a couple of fun little videos of Mr D and me earlier today, playing with one of my gorgeous birthday presents from work - my little BB8 ... :D
