We closed payroll this morning.  On time (sort of, we were actually fifteen minutes late but that was only because we were told that someone had walked out, and effectively left this morning, and so we had to make sure they were processed as a leaver so they weren't overpaid).

But now that's it, I can finally start feeling demob happy and thinking about my Christmas break of ten days (all bar one day - I have to go in Thursday 28th.)

This is a general approximation of my mood right now ...

Congratulations. Payroll is always a laborious process, ensuring all your numbers and figures are correct, because you know darn well if they are not, you will be hearing about it from a screaming employee. I process payroll for 18 employees every week and although it is much smaller than yours, I do understand the pressure to get things done and done right.

Plus, you are one fortunate git. 10 days off over the holiday??!!!!!! Man, I get one day, Christmas day, and then its back to the grind. Non-stop work, OT, and what seems like no breaks ever. I'm burning myself out right now with all the OT, so I need to be careful. I'm loving the extra cash, but burnout is a worry right now.

Have a wonderful time off.

Oh wow, you need to take a break - look after yourself!
We are lucky here in the UK, because even if we don't get the full Christmas/new year time off as I have, we're guaranteed two days off because the day after Christmas (Boxing Day) is a public holiday here.
