I haven't been following this whole ridiculous drama that's going on about this stupid 'joke' from NOLA Con, but I've seen enough on social media to know the general gist of the situation:

The guys get baited into telling a - probably, in the current climate - vaguely inappropriate joke and now they, Jared in particular, are getting crucified on Twitter by the oh-so-fucking-righteous brigade.

There's a reason why I very rarely go near Twitter; because when that lot get going like a bunch of screaming, demented baboons flinging shit at their chosen target, it's unbearable to watch.

All I will say on the matter is that when those who are shouting the loudest can stand up, look me in the eye and show me that they have NEVER once made an ill-advised or inappropriate comment, or spoken without thinking under pressure, or just - basically - made a mistake, then I'll take them seriously.

But they can't, because they've all done it.  We all have.  Every man, woman and child on the planet has made a stupid misjudgement at some point in their lives - and most of us have the benefit of not doing it in front of a room full of people and five hundred cameras.

So, they'll happily tear down two amazing men who have done wonders for people less fortunate for themselves because of one human misjudgement.  They'll happily tear them down because their voice HAS to be heard - their ego HAS to be let off it's leash. Hang the consequences for J2 and the rest of the fandom.

Well, they're so fond of judging people, now I'm going to judge them.  They make me sick.  I don't care about them, I don't care about their offended sensibilities.  They are self-righteous, hypocritical twats.  The worst kind of narcissistic bullies, because it all has to be about them.

I hope Jared and Jensen have the strength to weather this storm, and can take comfort in knowing that they can count on the support of the REAL fandom - a fandom which wouldn't exist without them. I support @Jensenackles and @Jarpad 100%.

And as for the Drama Llamas - just go and crawl back under your rock - I'm sure you'll find something else to be offended by soon.

I've done a bit of digging and I think it's not just fans causing this escalation, it's stupid 'celeb news' sites which seem to have latched onto the noisy precious fandom darlings and then amplified it with lying articles like this one saying J2 have been cancelled! Whatever that means. Bollocks the lot of it. But reading the comments underneath is interesting. Though it's disturbing to see how many women commenting have been victims of rape and/or assault.

I've read that article and it is a poorly written bit of gutter journalism that means absolutely nothing to anyone.

I don't doubt that a lot of women hae suffered rape or harrassment, and I totally 100% stand with those women, and perhaps they were offended by the joke, but I bet they're not the ones screaming and chucking their toys around.

I am with you there and am so glad that I am not on Twitter and most likely never will be.

It seriously has been blown way out of proportion because of some stupid morans who have to make sure their ego's are stoked so they can feel good about themselves.

I support @Jensenackles and @Jarpad as well 100% because we all have said something that was supposed to be a joke but taken the wrong way.

No, you are quite right, in fact one of them has written the perfect comment on there.

This one: Catlee Moore ยท Freelance at Self-employed
I've survived rape & several sexual assaults. This did not offend me. Also, it's not the first time they or other cast mates have made this type joke. To my knowledge no one has ever called any of them on it. If we all just laugh and say nothing then they won't know they've offended anyone or why it offended people. I'm not defending the joke, just saying we also have the responsibility to explain. They *are* human and humans make mistakes.

Misha's made similar & also more inappropriate jokes many more times than J2 and he hasn't been called to be "cancelled".

Does that excuse it? NO.
Was it inappropriate? Yes.

However, demanding that they be "cancelled" is a little over the top.
EVERYONE has made an innapropriate comment or joke at some point in their lives. Doesn't mean you should be vilified. It's a teaching moment, not the time to overreact. That actually makes the situation worse.

People can simply explain they were offended & why and I know they would never do it again.
These two would never deliberately hurt someone.

Helping people understand that what they said was inappropriate and why and asking them respect that, is a much better way to help end rape culture. It's far more effective than becoming aggressive and demanding someone lose their job.

This was at the same con where they said the most important things they want to teach their children are acceptance, to know they're loved, and to love others. So if we teach them properly then they can teach their children the right thing.

Yikes. I'm glad that I seem to be so far out of the loop that I haven't seen any of that drama so far.

Thank you for posting this. I didn't have a clue as to what was happening so I went to youtube and looked it up. And oh my goodness as jokes go it wasn't that bad at all. I've heard so much worse from 'popular' comedians on tv nowadays and no one says boo about it. This whole 'I'm offended at every little thing' has got to go. Life is too short to live it being offended.

And to turn on Jensen and Jared like this... it boggles my mind.

I have of course shared the 'offending' video on my lj.

I totally agree. I'm revolted at all the hypocrites. Not one person can say they've never done something that angered/upset people or was off-color, etc. I'm disgusted how they can forget the freaking AMAZING guys that they're trying to tear down, after praising them for years (and especially Jared with AKF), and loving them for the awesome human beings that they are. Twitter and I are on long-term separation right now.... that will probably end in divorce.

They need to go and take their soapboxes and pile them up in someone else's back yard. I'm so sick and tired of everyone and his damned wife finding a reason to be *offended*.

No, the joke wasn't okay, yes, it was inappropriate, but hell fire Jared didn't want to answer it, the fans screamed him into it, and now he's getting his ass handed to him. I am the first person to point out when he makes a dumb assed decision, he's made a few, but this isn't that. This is a pile of people who got what they asked for, and now their whining about it.

Rape culture isn't okay, one tiny bit of okay. Jared wasn't promoting that. I see English and US comedians making worse jokes before the watershed both sides of the pond. Do they get rocks chucked at their heads, no?

Take your precious sprinkle cupcake personalities and go play in someone else's sandbox I have had ENOUGH!!!

As a member of the 'should be offended because....' brigade, just here to tell you, I actually wasn't. Context is everything and so is the personality and presence of the individual making the damned joke. Just, fuck off. (not you, obvs, Dizzo)

I don't do Twitter and I won't do it! I didn't know what was going on so I watched it at you tube. Goodness, there are some People saying something much worse. What a Drama! This is blown up to big. It's a joke, nothing more. It always drives me mad how stupid some People are... the worst... they don't even notice this.
I stand with J2 forever and a day. We KNOW our amazing and lovingly boys. That's all I have to say.
Thanks for this post, dizzo!

What was the joke?

Any kind of sexual/rape/etc. jokes get a lot of Twitter-idiots standing on their hind legs and barking. I made a sexual assault joke once and at least three people complained I was "triggering them". Well, pardon me, dickwads, I've been sexually assaulted and I don't have a nervous breakdown every time someone makes a joke about it. JEEZ.

It's nice to see that there are some sane fans out there that think this whole hullaballoo is a bunch of damned nonsense. I haven't been on my computer at home at all in the last couple of weeks so I haven't had a chance to watch any vids from NOLA. And I am very particular about who I follow on Twitter so I was only seeing a couple non-descript type of tweets about this whole incident. When I had some time several days later I started digging a little deeper into Twitter to find out what was going on. Not having seen the vid yet, but reading comments from both sides, I gotta say, I really think so many people are creating a mountain of crap out of a little tiny pinprick of a joke. I cannot believe all the news feeds that have picked up on it and written an article. I receive emails from Google for anything that is 'Supernatural' or 'Jensen Ackles' related and the links I have seen for articles from different websites, bloggers and magazines, etc about this little fandom created mess are overwhelming. The fact that Jared didn't even want to say the joke out loud but was pressured, or shall I say maybe even bullied, into saying the joke, should give him some leeway into the lynching, or at least lessen the lynching he and Jensen have received this past week. But it didn't. It's too bad he went ahead and stated the joke, he should have let his better judgment be his guide, but when you are at a Convention for your fans and you are there to please them, sometimes better judgment may go out the window.

Given our culture out there I really do think people are oversensitive about certain things. Like others have pointed out, comedians say worse things in their comedy routines and yet people laugh at their jokes and don't think anything else about it. J2 make a slightly off-color joke, which they didn't want to say in the first place, and they are crucified as human beings and villified by fandom and the press. There are 9 million things wrong with those two scenarios. It's interesting, in reading the various tweets and seeing where it all started, it seems that the one person that kinda started up the bandwagon of vilifying J2 is someone very prominent in fandom and someone who has been glorified by fandom, and even J2. Now THAT is what I take personal offense to. I am sick and tired of these fans that are on their very high horse and are now looking down on J2 for an honest stupid mistake. We are all, after all, very human. Judging and treating these two men like this after all the good they have done these last 13 years is very unfair and unjust. I just want all these "drama llamas" (love that term) to slink away in the hole where they belong and stay there forever.

I am so done with all this crap! What bothers me most about all the weep and wailing is it's all about how offended we should be. I'm sorry but I'll decide what offends me, I'm not going to be told by some delicate snowflake that two men who have done nothing but good, are now evil and deserve to be ruined. Why don't you go and have a go and some of the real scumbags out there, President Trump leaps to mind, I'll tell you why they don't, it's they have to male themselves feel morally superior and the boys are an easy target. Well I hate to tell you, you are not morally superior, you're just petty minded and herding people like sheep because we should all be offended every time a man opens his mouth or just breathes too loudly.

Sorry about that, rant over now.
