Day 11 - A song that you never get tired of
This one. Terry Jacks, Seasons in the Sun from 1974 (not that pathetic apology of a remake that Westlife did years later). I first heard this song as a child and have been fascinated by it ever since. It's so haunting and melancholy, yet is full of such beautiful images and memories. I've never fully understood the story behind it, but I've always felt that it was the words of someone young facing death, maybe a soldier going off to war, or a man facing execution. Whatever it is, it's captivatiing, and I'll never get tired of it.

The singer is lead person. The girl is his wife, and the man is his best friend. Along the years, his best friend had an affair with his wife, discovered them and killed them. He turned himself in and was sentenced to death. The lyrics are his will; his way to say goodbye to his father, daughter and yes, his wife and the man who he still thinks of his best friend. The song has a whole new meaning with the thought of that story, doesn't it.
