Thanks, I'm much happier this time around. For these pictures, yes, I always use black paper. For dapplegrey pictures, it's aboout 50/50. I tend to do the commissions on light paper because it's more mainstream (unless someone asks specifically for a dark background).
Yes, probably I would. I think it makes the image 'pop' so much more. Obviously, there are times when it would be difficult, eg: when drawing a black cat, but there are ways round that, and you can make the picture look very atmospheric and eye-catching with the right use of highlighting.
