So.  Less than 24 hours since I got back from asylum 18 and JIBcon, and what's the first thing I do today?

You guessed it - I bought my ticket to Asylum 19 for next May.

I was just curious about how you decided which pass to get. I know there's is 3 different ones available now.

You don't have to answer it if you don't want too. I've never been to an Asylum one before just the ones done by Creation in the states.

You're right that there are three passes - they are Diamond, Ruby and Emerald. The emerald pass is the standard one, Diamond is the premium one. The thing with Asylums is that they are big - huge! I don't know how they compare with the Creation cons, but there is often 2,000 people there, and when 1,500 or more of them are emeralds, queuing can become something of an issue.
The Ruby and Diamond give priority queuing, and they also include other stuff such as some photos and reserved seating.
I normally go for the Ruby pass because it's a nice compromise. Yes, it's more expensive than an emerald, but it's a lot cheaper than a diamond. You're guaranteed second call for queues, and youy get a seat within about the first eight to ten rows. I've gone for the Ruby again this time!

Thanks for telling me. I just don't know if I could pull off buying any of the passes for it, oh the finances trying to rear its ugly head and take the fun away from fandom life.

Am I right in my assumption that certain photo ops are not included in the any package?

Yes, it can vary. Recently, the ruby pass has included up to 4 standard guests but not any sponsored or special guests.

It's so very hard to stay away. I've been thinking about maybe not re-upping with VanCon this year because that Con is just getting so expensive, but I'm sure the moment I get there my mind will be changed and I'll do anything to be able to renew for next year. We just can't let go.

Which A19 ticket did you go for?

I haven't bought one yet because I need to pay off the JIB hotel on my credit card, possibly pay for flights to the US soon, and also make sure I have enough for JIB9!

I have the hotel booked for A19 already though, since I could get government/military rate for cheaper than the usual con rate, and with no deposit :).

I'm going with my gut feling that JIB and Asylum won't clash, they never have before and there's no reason why Daniela would arrange JIB to clash with Asylum - she's not in competition with them, there's nothing for her to gain from it. Also, someone posted on Facebook that someone else said they'd spoken to Daniela and she'd indicated that JIB would probably be the same weekend it was this year.

If I hadn't paid for my asylum booking, I might have forfeited the ticket, so I decided to take the plunge to secure it

However, if the worst comes to the worst, of course JIB will win out - I'll just have to forego a photo op or two to make up the lost dosh :(
