30 Day meme challenge

I've been sooooooo bad at keeping up with this meme, so here's a bit of catching up:
Day 9: Pet Peeves
Okay, so I hate all the same little things that we all do. Things like arrogant people, car trouble, bureaucracy etc, but this is my one big pet peeve. This is something that makes my BLOOD BOIL!
I hate umbrellas generally, but people who take umbrellas to outdoor events should be taken outside (in the rain) and publicly flogged! I live in the UK, so it's always bloody raining, and I can't remember the number of times I've been to an outdoor concert, or sporting event, and it's started to rain and ... BOOM ... some twat in front of me is right there sticking the umbrella up in my face.
Oh yes, because I spent good money on a ticket to this event just so that I could spend a whole evening staring at your sodding umbrella!
It's only water. It's not bloody nitric acid falling out of the sky. Wear a hood; get wet; stop being such a big girls' blouse. THINK OF SOMEONE OTHER THAN YOURSELF!!
*deep breath*
*rant over*
Day 10: If I could live off one food and one beverage for the rest of my life what would it be?
Oh heck, I'm tempted to say New Zealand Sauvingnon Blanc, but I'd probably die of liver failure before too long, so I'm going to plump for skinny cappuccino instead.
Food ... I love food, how can I choose just one? It would probably have to be somethiing like fish and chips!
What? I've never pretended to be sophisticated!
Day 11: Your favourite quote
This quote by Steve Jobs. I first heard this quote when I worked for Apple many years ago, and it's resonated with me ever since. I think it describes most of the people who have ever captured my imagination, including my F/list here:
Here's to the crazy ones, the misfits, the rebels, the troublemakers, the round pegs in the square holes... the ones who see things differently -- they're not fond of rules... You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them, but the only thing you can't do is ignore them because they change things... they push the human race forward, and while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius, because the ones who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the ones who do.

Date: 2017-03-28 11:57 pm (UTC)In The Hunted I mentioned in passing a planet with a rain that burned the skin.
Rain pelted in hard splats, hissed against the oiled burlap cloak Hayden wore for both protection and camouflage; all but the tips of his long platinum hair hidden within. ... The entranced slaves were oblivious to the acidic sting of the rain on their exposed skin as they marched obediently toward their future.
