Fun, fun, fun in the Dizzo Household!

Well, it hasn't been the most wonderful of weeks so far.  The feed pipe behind our washing machine sprung a leak - we don''t know when exactly, but we think it was some time ago.  We had no idea until about four days ago when a big icky brown stain appeared on the hall carpet, literally overnight!

We were baffled by the stain, but when we realised it was damp we figured that we must have a leak!  Mr D found the source of the leak and isolated it, and we have a plumber coming over on Monday to fix it.  In the meantime, we can't use our washing machine (so don't stand downwind of me for a while!).

I had the insurance assessor come over tonight and he had a snoop round taking some photos and making notes.  As well as the hall carpet, it's very likely the kitchen floor will have to be replaced as it is made up of stone-effect wooden tiles, and some of them have started to feel  spongey because  the water has spread across the floor under them, and also the kitchen cabinet that the leak is behind as the wood has swollen and cracked all the laminate.  Of course, the insurance won't pay for the plumber, only the damage the water does, and although the excess on our policy is £150.00, for water damage the grasping gits charge £350.00.

Lucky us!

Anyhoo, you know what?  I'm not going to let it get me down; far worse things happen all of the time!

We've got a new episode tonight, it's nearly the weekend, there's a bottle of wine chillin' in the fridge for tomorrow evening and I have treated myself to a seriously ZANY new nail design!

oh wow, so not fun. We had a leak from the bathroom recently, it came through the light fitting in the downstairs hallway and damaged the ceiling and the hall floor :(

I love the nails, they're awesome, I wish I could do something like that, but mine get to so long and then they snap.

They most certainly aren't. We had to have the bath lifted because it only happened with a full bathtub, not the shower.

I love the nails, and am so envious of those who can grow them, and make them look fabulous.

Just pretend plumber!Jensen comes over to repair the damage. And he brings his BFF carpenter!Jared. And they work so hard that they start to sweat and have to take off their shirts.

Yup that sounds like your typical insurance company, money grabbing gits. I share your pain, been there done that, discovered the floor has gone rotten, here's hoping you get everything sorted relatively painlessly. I love the the nails, they are awesome.

yes!!!!! it's sold the most around halloween. i'm kinda addicted to it ever since i was a little girl, so as soon as i see it start being sold i go a little crazy with the buying! hehe.

Sorry for the water damage. We have customers calling all the time because of water damage needing to get their hardwoods fixed. It sucks. I hope it didn't turn out to be too expensive. But with a water leak you never know how far down in your flooring the water got. If it got all the way down then you have to replace so much more than just your top flooring, and that can be a mess. Luckily for you it didn't happen too long ago, because then you can be dealing with mold and mildew and all that nasty stuff. Never any fun. I hope its all fixed by now.
