In your own space, share a book/song/movie/tv show/fanwork/etc that changed your life. Something that impacted on your consciousness in a way that left its mark on your soul.




There are lots of books and films throughout my life that contributed to me being the person I am today; Watership Down, Lord of the Rings, Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy, War of the Worlds, Star Wars - they all contributed to my love of the fantastic, and my fascination with science fiction, but I can't possibly give an honest answer to this question without nominating Supernatural.

I've watched many TV shows that I've really enjoyed, but none have affected me in the way that supernatural has.  In short, it's the only programme I care about enough to bare my soul by producing fanworks for, but I love our show for a number of reasons:

I love Supernatural because it inspired me to rediscover a love of creative writing, a hobby that I had long since forgotten about due to lack of inspiration and lack of a readership.  It also inspired me to step outside my comfort zone and start drawing people, and also to learn how to make digital art, something I had always imagined to be beyond me and my limited technical understanding.

And mostly I love Supernatural because of the amazing people from all over the world I have met through it both online and in the flesh.  Attending conventions is one of the great joys of my life: something I wouldn't even have considered if I hadn't got inolved in the Supernatural fandom. As well as the UK, I now know people from France, Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Italy, Iceland, America, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada to name a few, and I'm proud to call them friends.  I wouldn't have known a single one of these people without our little show!

Great choice, I should've thought of that! I so agree with all the reasons for your choice, especially the show encouraging our creative sides and the worldwide friends we now have, amazing!

Very nicely put! I've never had this close a relationship with people in other fandoms. HP and LOTR both come in second for me, but they trail way behind this community. xoxo

they aren't. although i did become very close with one girl in HP fandom we met and everything. but then we kinda drifted.
