Two happy posts in one day - now that's a good start to 2017 !

This is the outcome of my afternoon's work; I've been making use of the Supernatural colouring book I got for Christmas ... this has got to be the first colouring I've done since I was a kid!

I used coloured pencils instead of my usual pastels for this as the book is made of the wrong type of paper for pastels, and it was good to use a different medium for a change.

And so, without further ado, here is the finished result ...

Nice!

So, I'm curious. As an artist, how did it feel to let someone else handle the drawing, while you focused solely on the coloring? To me, it looks like you found new ways to bring the drawing to life and make it yours. Sometimes the way it's colored and shaded makes all the difference in a drawing, I think.

That's a good question.
I actually really enjoyed colouring someone else's outline for a change. In the art process, the line drawing is always the part that I find hardest and most laborious. I'm always glad to get that part over and done with so that I can get on with the colouring and shading. For me, that's the part that gives the picture form and texture and life, and the part that I get the most satisfaction from. :)

That looks very nice. So detailed for a coloring book. Much more than I would do.

See now this is why I may just do a little tinkering with my colouring book, there's no way the pages would be as gorgeous as this!

But you're more of an outline person anyway aren't you?
For me, although I know the line drawing is the most important part of a picture, I most enjoy the shading and colouring.

I am, yes, which is great for creating striking yet simple work, not so much for colouring ;)
