What's in my handbag?

Nothing very exciting I'm afraid:

My phone
My wallet
Tissues/Wet Wipes
Asprins
Tampons
Pens
Old receipts
Hairbrush
First Aider's Face Shield

Is part of this guessing what the question was for the day?

Life is so much more fun when you have a dirty mind :)

I'm impressed that you carry a First Aider's Face Shield, have you ever had to use it? I put an epileptic guy into the recovery position once in the park, but I never had to use my First Aid in public apart from that.

No, I've never had to use it, but I will always carry it just in case. I've never had to do anything too drtamatic with my first aid qualification. I had to deal with someone having a fit, but she was conscious throughout, and then last year I had someone who was showing signs of a neurological disorder (flashing lights, dizziness, nausea, double vision), turned out it was a painless migraine - the first she'd ever suffered.

I think it's great you're a First Aider, and have been able to use it to help people. I was for many years, and it's a shame more people don't have First Aid training.

I totally agree. Personally, I think it should be a mandatory part of the curriculum at school to give kids a grounding, even if it's only a couple of sessions each year. They're quite happy to stuff kids' heads with pointless shit like algebra and the pythagorus theorum, but can't spare a few hours a year to teach them something that could save a life!

Hear hear! It really should be on the national curriculum.

Yep, sounds like a typical purse. Very cool about the first aide shield. It's nice you haven't ever had to use it, but kudos for you for being trained and prepared should the occasion arise.

I've been a first aider for nearly thirty years, and I would never let it lapse. As I said to JJ above, I think it should be something that's taught at school so that every kid grows up with a basic grounding in first aid.

I do remember in some level of school we took a first aide class, so I was versed in the basics, a LONG time ago. Unfortunately, I never kept it up.
