Wow ... What a Week!

Well, that was the week that was.

Today was the day I finally left my company, after thirteen years.  I said right at the beginning of the week that if I get through until the end of Friday without bawling, it'll be a bloody miracle.

There were no miracles.  At lunchtime today when I was saying goodby to my girlies, I was bawling!



But if this week has shown me anything it's that I had some real friends at that place.  I've been truly touched by the outpouring of love I've received from so many different people.  You know you'e got a true friend when she writes; 'sod off, I never liked you anyway' in your leaving card!

I've been taken out to lunch by four different people this week, and I've had so many people bemoaning the fact that 'all the good people are leaving', it's heartbreaking.

The one person who hasn't joined in this wonderful week is Gaz.  He didn't even say goodbye.  Am I surprised?  Of course not.

As my Dad said; 'ignorant swine'.

Anyhow, I've had some wonderful experiences and gifts this week:  When I walked into the office this morning, this is the sight that met me ...



Yesterday, there was a leaving presentation for me, which was very sweet and very touching.  I had made it VERY clear that I didn't want Gaz to do any presentation to me, and that I wouldn't take part if he did.  I was assured that the presentation would be done by David, our Chief Executive, and it was.

Gaz turned up to watch, rather than to take part.  I guess he realised that it would look bad to the Chief Exec if he didn't bother to turn up.  I made sure I stood with my back to him the whole time!

David presented me with these beautiful flowers:



And then went on to explain to the assembled masses how I was an artist, and  presented me with my second present ...and all I can say is that someone really did their research here, because these are the actual brands that I use:



I love the colouring book, I've been tempted to buy one of those for ages and never got round to it, so that will be so much fun to play with :)

One of the ladies I work with is called Ros, and she's been there longer than me.  She came over to be with me right at the end, and walked out of the door with me.  I said to her that there was a lovely symmetry to her seeing me off the premises, because thirteen years ago, she was the first person to welcome me onto the premises!

She bought me this little gifty:




She said to me, 'every time you look at that arsehole, you can think of Gaz' !!  I love Ros :)

There was one more gift, but that's worthy of a post in itself.  In the meantime, I'll leave you with this card from my gorgeous girlies.  This made me laugh like a drain because it could so easily be a scene from a supernatural convention!!!

Thank you. I knew I'd made some good friends at that place, but I didn't realise quite how good. There was a lot of love and a lot of tears - and they weren't all mine!!!

It's so sad when you have to leave a job where you LOVE your coworkers, but what a lovely send off and such thoughtful gifts.

It is sad, particularly the manner of my leaving, but there are a lot of people I will keep in touch with, and thanks to Facebook and other social media, that's so much easier.

Those green chairs are a bit of a love/hate thing. some people love them, others don't!

What a fabulous send off! Just looking at the photos I could feel the love. What a shame Gaz the wanker had to come along and ruin such a nice work environment. At least you get to go off and do something different now, that's probably a good thing career-wise anyway.

What a wonderful set of gifts and what an amazing week, it's such a shame you can't take all of your girlies with you, but look at how missed you're going to be and how appreciated you are. Gaz can SUCK IT!

How lovely of everyone to give you a grand send off. After 13 years I would hope they make a big deal out of you leaving. People just aren't at jobs that long anymore. It's always nice to see how much we are appreciated by our co-workers, and you definitely had that in spades. So cool.

And what can one say about Gaz. Nothing really, as he is really nothing. It's good you are finally free of him. Good luck in the new job.
