I have turned another to the dark side!

It's been rather nice having this few days off with not much planned.
Admittedly, the stupid lurgy more or less obliterated my Christmas Eve and Christmas Day from a social point of view, but I've still had a nice break.
On Boxing Day, dosed up with cold meds, I dutifully trotted off to the Fleet Social Club which is run by my Sister in Law to have a Christmas catch up with Barry's side of the family. Although I wasn't really in the mood to spend two hours in the company of Barry's Mum who is a very sweet woman but whose vocabulary doesn't extend past what the neighbours are doing, why the neighbours are annoying her and who has died recently - I've never known anyone who loves a good funeral as much as MiL. Her never ending commentary on the daily tribulations of people in her life includes people who she lived next door to 45 years ago and who Barry and I have never even heard of, and hae no discernable interest in.
That was a loooooong couple of hours!
The highlight of the visit was catching up with our nephew, Sam. He's 20 on the 11th of January, and considering I saw him when he was four hours old, this makes me feel pretty ancient.
Sam is a bit of a geek; he's a gamer, he also loves Lord of the Rings and Game of Thrones. I've always connected with him, and always been really fond of him, and I know the feeling is mutual. Then right out of the blue he said to me, 'I started watching Supernatural a couple of weeks ago. I know you like it, so I thought I'd give it a go - it's really cool.'
He's about a third of the way into the first season, and I am one very proud auntie!
