Thank you!
Feb. 9th, 2018 10:45 pmThank you for all your lovely comments after my horrible experience yesterday. I still feel terrible about the poor fox, but I really appreciate everyone's kindness. I drove home from work tonight, and I was just so paranoid about small beasties running out on me, I don't think I went above 35 the whole time. I was gripping the steering wheel so tightly, I had cramp in my hands when I got home!
At lunchtime I got the first real proper look at my car in daylight, and I can see I've got a cracked bumper, I couldn't help thinking to myself, 'tough shit - you deserve that.' There's something a little bit comforting to think that poor little fox is getting his revenge on me from foxy heaven.
But as Mr D said to me tonight, if you hit him hard enough to crack your bumper, I think that's the proof you wanted that it would have been pretty instant.
But life has a funny way of reminding you to keep a sense of perspective ...
As I was driving to work this morning, the traffic slowed down into a little queue over a narrow humpback bridge that I have to drive over. As I started inching forward, ahead of me I saw a couple of stationary cars with their hazard lights flashing, and I thought, 'ooh, there's been a prang!', then as I inched further forward and breeched the hump of the humpback bridge, I saw a motorcyclist lying in the road with one person crouching over him, and another standing over him directing the traffic around him and the two parked cars. I sincerely hope the poor man is ok.
But it served well to remind me that, as horrible as what I did yesterday was, it could have been so much worse.
So this is me being thankful for all the good things in life. And that includes you guys!
*hugs*
