As I was walking down my garden path this evening, I was struck by how lovely my flowering cherry tree looks now it's in full leaf.

This tree was a first anniversary present to us from my grandparents, and when we first got it, it was a spindly little twig, small enough to travel home in the back of a hatchback car.  Now, almost nineteen years later, it's about fifteen feet tall with a trunk thicker than my arm.

This is how it looked this evening - I only wish I'd had the presence of mind to get a picture while it was in blossom!

My tree makes me happy! )

23rd April is the day upon which we, here in the UK, recognise Saint George, the Patron Saint of England.  Very little is known about the real Saint George except that he wasn't English (go figure) and the one thing he's most famous for - eg: killing the dragon - almost certainly didn't really happen.

But, hey ho, when have I ever let a little thing like reality get in the way of some juicy Winchester Whump?

So, for your entertainment, here's a teeny weeny, terribly English, celebratory drabble!
