milly_gal asked The most memorable moment you've had in fandom since you discovered the wonderful world of fangirling?

Now that's a tough one, because the wonderful world of fangirling has gifted me with so many memorable moments!

Meeting Jensen for the first time - that was pretty memorable (and overwhelming). Meeting Jensen the second time wasn't bad either :)
Sharing a flight with Jared to Rome last year and having him remember me from A12, I think I squeeeeed for England after that!
My first con - Asylum 7
Getting Hi-Fived by Misha and then Jared the following year
Hugging Death
Making Travis (Ghostfacer Harry) laugh out loud at our meet and greet
Getting hugged so hard by Ty that the photographer actually looked concerned for my welfare
And many others ...

They were all amazing moments that will live with me forever, but I think the most memorable part of fandom for me, has been all the great people I have met, first on line and then in person.  So I think a special mention has to go to my very first fangirl meet up with a very sweet lady called Viv (my convention buddy and roomie).  A few months after I posted my first story on FF.net in 2010, I was having a PM chat with Viv and we realised we only lived about 15 miles apart, so we arranged a meet up in Windsor one evening for a pizza.

I was a bit nervous at first, (I'd never done anything like this before and I felt like I was going on a blind date), but when we met up, we hit it off straight away.  It was Viv that talked me into going to my first con, and there, as a bewildered newbie, I met a lot of fabulous people who until then had only been pen names to me, and who I now count among some of my closest friends.  I think it's fair to say I was bitten by the bug and I've been a regular co-goer ever since.  That immersed me deeper into fandom, and in doing so allowed me to continue meeting all the fabulous fandom friends, both on-line and in person,  I have now.

I don't want to name individuals because I'm bound to forget someone, but you all know who you are!

The simple fact is that I doubt I would ever have gone to a con of my own volition because I had no idea what they were all about, and even if I did, I had no-one to go with; so I wouldn't have met so many people, so I wouldn't have been so active in fandom, and so I probably wouldn't be sitting here answering this meme!

Therefore, I don't know if it qualifies as most memorable or most significant, but I'm going to name that innocuous night in Pizza Hut, Windsor with Viv as the most special thing that happened to me in fandom!

Again, I couldn't agree more! I have met so many amazing people through many fandoms (you included!), some are my closest friends now. It is amazing what a "simple" television series can do, isn't it? It brings together people who would have otherwise never gave met, never had become friends, and never had made those amazing memories. It truly is wonderful and special <3

That is absolutely right. I've made friends for life through the Supernatural fandom - friendss who I would never have met otherwise.

It is very, very special.

I think this is the most wonderful and lovely post hun! Thank Viv for finding you and helping you find us! Because what in the hell would we do without you!?!

And as an aside, whenever I hear of Con memories,. it always (under the slight pitter patter of jealousy ;D) makes me so warm and fuzzy, what better place could there be for like minded to find firm friends!

Thank you so much for sharing hun!

You have some wonderful moments there, as many of us have, since joining and partaking in fandom. It is nice to meet the boys and other actors but the friendships that have been made because of this show are all very special. I know two years ago I met a fellow fan who has since become to feel like a sister. Although we don't talk as much as we would like, our lives are busy, I cannot wait to see her again. And I always love it when I see a comment from a friend I haven't heard from in awhile. The friends gained is definitely significant and for sure memorable - I heartily concur here.

Everyone I speak to have similar stories about fandom.

Even putting aside the people that you meet in person, I communicate regularly with lovely people from all over the world; people from America like you, and fans from Germany, Australia, New Zealand, Belgium - there's even a lady from Iran that regularly reviews my stories over on FF.net. These are all people I would never have had the pleasure of knowing otherwise.

It's just amazing; very, very special!

It is amazing. Like you said, we all talk to people from all parts of the world and that is something that is so special. I often comment when talking to RL friends or family that I talk with people all over the world, and mention some of the countries or cities. They don't have any remarks about it, but I always feel special when I mention that because without this show my life, my world would still consist of people within my geographic region. But with this show, my world is the world because I have friends in all parts of the world. Like you said, we would never have had the pleasure of knowing these people or talking together had it not been for our shared love of this little show called Supernatural. That, in and of itself, is truly remarkable and a great blessing in my book.
