Stopping off in the village on my way home from work this evening, this was the sight that met me:



Big poppies posted all around the village centre to mark the centenery of the beginning of the first world war.

How lovely. If they mark the beginning of a war, what do they do to commemorate the end of a war. Very pretty.

They have only done this especially to mark the centenery of the beginning of the 1st world war in 1914.

We have had little events from time to time to mark other special occasions like 50th anniversary of the end of 2nd world war etc.
