I've treated my poor knackered writing muse to a well-earned rest and decided to give my artistic muse a bit of an airing, and this is what she has come up with ...
Hey, thank you! I usually stick to animals and children, so this was a new challenge for me, but really enjoyed it. I'm sure this won't be my last effort ...
Hey there I'm glad you liked it. I do a lot of drawing and painting and I do mainly animals so this was waaaay outside my comfort zone; but I loved doing it and although I'm aware it's not perfect, I've had some really nice comments and constructive criticism, so I feel confident enough to try again sometime! Thanks for commenting x
I enjoyed your portraits of Sam and Dean. I love to draw and use to draw faces quite a bit. I know that the more you draw the same face the better the face gets. So, keep drawing Sam and Dean (especially Dean) and you will see the likeness getting even better than they are now. Makes me want to give it ago (it's been years since I did a portrait of an actual person!). Thanks for sharing, I look forward to seeing more art and stories of our boys especially some hurt Dean!
Hey there I'm glad you liked it. It was something very different to what I normally paint and draw which is mainly animals (paticularly horses), and on the odd occasion I do people, it's always children so this was a big step outside the comfort zone for me; but I loved doing it and although I'm aware it's not perfect, I've had some really nice comments and constructive criticism, to make me feel confident enough to try again at some point in the future!
I can feel my writing muse rattling her cage though ... I think she'll be making an appearance soon :)
I love looking at other artists' work. Do you have any of your work on the internet?
Thanks for commenting, really great to hear from you x
No, I don't have anything out there on the net. I do have some friends who have been pestering me to do a portrait of our boys. Time is not on my side...I teach art (of all things!) to PreK to 5th grade and it really keeps me busy, busy, busy!!!
Oh wow, I can imagine how that keeps you busy - but I'm still going to join your pestering friends, I'd love to see you do a portrait of our lovely boys! :)
Ah you mean real art! I only do digital at the moment, the real thing is too time consuming (and I suck at portraits too!) Like the others have said - the likenesses are not quite there yet, but practice will get you there as you obviously have an eye.
Sam's is closer than Dean's, especially the right hand side of Sam's face (as we look at it) and Dean's lips are pretty good. I love the colouring, pastel suits this picture very well.
You should post this on spn-art and supernaturalart on LJ too. I stick all my wallpapers on supernaturalart.
Hey there! Yes, I only do art the old fashioned way - I'm not clever enough with computers to work out all these graphic packages and how to do manipulations and stuff like that. Normally I only do animals, so this is a real diversion for me.
Isn't it funny how people perceive things. My husband thinks that I got Dean better than Sam - just shows how it's all in the eye of the beholder. I can spot things on both characters that I like (I'm pleased with Dean's eyes) and things that I think could be improved, but hey, that's why it's called challenging yourself huh?
Thanks for taking the time to comment, I'll take a look at those communities you mentioned. x
It's Vanessa. Sorry-I don't have an LJ account. Nice art work. I think you captured Sam more so than Dean but you did a great job with their hair, eyes, and this sounds weird but their necks. Heaven knows I can't draw a straight line so my observations are particularly amateur.
I am Zyanya from ff, I gotta tell you that you really are multitalented, you did such a nice job with the boys, specially I loved their mouths, they look pretty real as well as their eyes...you created this effect that Jensen has...I mean, you gotta look at those beautiful green eyes!!. Keep on sharing all your work 'cause this is as good as your stories...thanks :)
