Parents...
May. 5th, 2024 07:56 pmAs many of you know I have been rather pre-occupied with my Dad's misadventures over the last couple of years, with his vascular emergency, partial foot amputation and latterly diabetes diagnosis. It's been a bit of a roller-coaster ride.
So, I phoned them up yesterday just to check on them, only to be told that my Mum had taken a fall in her dance fit gym class on Thursday and has broken her wrist.
HOLY CRAP!
She's doing as well as can be expected, and now we are really seeing the benefit of my parents moving into their assisted living place, where she's getting support from the staff and some fellow residents who have really rallied round to offer lifts, laundry services etc.. She has to go back to the hospital on Friday for further Xrays and to get her cast replaced. It may yet be that they need to operate to fix her wrist, but they won't know until Friday when the swelling has gone down a bit and the Xrays show the healing so far. So I'm keeping everything crossed that that won't be necessary.
This is the second time my Mum has broken her left arm - the first time was about 20 years ago (below) slipping on ice.

As many of you know, I've broken my left arm three times.
What is it with my bloody family and left arms????
