a dapplegrey art weekend

It's difficult to describe what went on this weekend.
I was on the Isle of Wight for one of my established shows - the Chale Show, and it's an event that's been going on for 100 years, so it's got quite a following.
Obviously, for reasons that I don't need to bore you with, it hasn't happened for the last two years, so this is the first Chale Show I have attended since 2019.
It was doubly special for me because it was the first 'outing' my Dad had had since all his troubles early in the year. This was the event he had been aiming for since then.
So Saturday started on an awkward note because my Dad was unwell from Friday night into Saturday morning, so I went to set up and man the stall on my own on Saturday. I'm sure it was nerves - his first outing since his world was blown apart, so I can excuse that, but only so far - I can't let him get too complacent.
I set the stall up, and even if I say so myself, I was really pleased with how it turned out...

In the end, Saturday turned out to be an amazing day. It felt like everyone who came to the show was a little bit high on life... the sheer energy and happiness that was evident that day was wonderful, it was like a sense of relief and joy that everything was finally back to normal. And that translated into sales - over the couse of the weekend I sold 20 prints which is more than I have ever sold in one weekend.
Dad was back on form, supporting me on Sunday and overall the weekend was fantastic, both socially and financially. In the end, it turned out to be the best weekend's trading I had ever had in fifteen years of running dapplegrey art.
