A question for my German chums ...

To my German F/listies, I want to pick your brains!

Mr Dizzo has, over the last couple of years on and off, been doing a German language course online.  Not for any specific reason, just simply because he's always wanted to learn another language, and German is the one he chose.

To help him along, he's asked me to ask if any of you know of a German radio station that has an app that he can download on his phone and listen to in the car to get some exposure to the German language being spoken for real by German people.

He doesn't want anything too heavy, no political commentary or anything, just general chit-chat, music, news and weather, that sort of thing.

If any of you have any ideas of something that might suit, just leave the name as a comment here, and I'll pass it on to the man himself!

1 Live is a pretty popular radio station here in Germany at least. Haven't listened to it in recent years but I think that won't have changed (I don't use any apps to listen to radio stations so I can't offer any other advice for the original question).

Maybe iheart radio? In the States it's free -- I don't know about over the pond.

I don't listen to a lot of radio, but I agree with herminekuratowa. 1Live is light and relaxed, but not too light either

I used to listen to 1Live quite often. Now it's Frozen DVD three times and Octonauts radio drama CD five times in a row. I learned to love my peace and quiet.

At least, my little one doesn't want to hear Benjamin Blümchen. Urgh.

I did it for a year at school, and I was fine until I got to the grammar then it all went to pot!!
