Okay, four years, ten months and eleven days to be precise, but I've finally decided to retire my faithful old orange journal theme and replaced it with a new style and ... *drum roll* ... a banner!

I finally got my arse in gear and figured out (with idiot-proof help) how to add a banner to my journal.

Of course, now that I've sussed out how to do it, the damn thing will probably change every five minutes!

Hey hun,
I've just been over to take a peek and I LOVE the new look and banner. Only thing is that it's sitting to the top left of the page rather than centred over your layout. Not sure if this is deliberate on your part, so here's the coding I've used and my header is centred. Perhaps you could compare it to your coding and see what differs.

Very nice banner, but yes, it needs to be centered. I always have difficulty with those things as well. Which is why I probably haven't changed my banner in a very long time. It is very nice. I also love your Masterpost for all your picspams. That is one to frequent every now and then. Love those.

Next question, because I want you to be as happy with your new theme as I am with mine. Is the colour scheme the one you truly want or the one closest to what you want? I only ask because I found working my way around the colour codes a nightmare until I discovered this site with all the html codes for colours that you can use to customize. I have a paid account; I think you need a paid account to add a banner, although I may be wrong!

I followed a list of instructions that I got from Milly via Sasha Dragon, and I've also got a list of colour HTML codes so that I could format the colours to match the banner.

Ah nope, I don't have a paid account, so I was right then. I couldn't see any reason to pay as all it seemed to give you is the extra icons when I don't even use the 15 I've got, and the banner header thing.

I think you have to have a paid account, but I could be wrong. It might be worth you going into 'settings' on your profile and then 'journal style' followed by 'customise your theme' and see what options are available to you. If you can alter 'Custom CSS' then it may be that you can add a banner.

i think it also depends on the style you have too. i use this as my custom CSS:

headerimage {
height: 520px;
background-image: url("http://random.jpg") !important;
background-repeat: no-repeat !important;
background-attachment: scroll !important;
background-position: center !important;

margin-bottom: 15px;

with the url being on a hosted site like photobucket and changing the height depending on how tall your image is in pixels.
